If bush's sister Robin, who died at age 4 of leukemia, could have been
saved by stem cell research, would he still be so against it. (Probably would because the man is a total science idiot who does not understand the fact that many blastocysts are created when a couple undergoes fertility treatment and many of these blasts will be unused and then destroyed. Plus he is the MOST unempathetic president ever, even compared to Hoover.)On the much touted, photo-opt adoption of the blasts, if a couple has to release them to another couple to adopt, then why can they not also release them for scientific research if the owner couple wants it?

gave us our brains and talents to make things better and Christ came to show us how to love and respect one another and bush came to negate it all. He really is the second coming (of the devil).

11. I often wonder if having another female in the family besides barb would
have helped this group's dynamics?

"In 1975, during a visit to Beijing, (it is said) she became the first person publicly baptized in China since its communist government began discouraging foreign religious practices in 1949. She has served as a Pioneer fundraiser for her brother's presidential campaigns."

And a correction from my first post, she was born in 1959.

5. I think he is against stem cell research because it is politically
expedient for him. Just as his thing against homosexual marriage, and for Christianity. And against pulling the tube from Terri Schiavo.

I don't think the chickenhawk alcoholic average student really holds any of these matters close to his heart. It is what works for him.

us do have and care about people that are hurting that might be helped by this research.

8. They do have it wrong
But that would not fit in with that portion of the "culture of life" that the fundies espouse.

Imagine the ability to grow organs to replace bad ones with the patient's own tissue!!

I think what is here, now, and certain should take precedence over what is not known, and probably will never be.

13. I suppose they must get enough from Halliburton, Enron, etc
And from the pharmaceutical companies. Maybe that is the only thing they aren't looking at from the money angle.

Good point you made, though.

27. He doesn't know the difference between a stem cell and a fuel cell
He mereloy parrots what his handlers tell him to, and scrunches up that ugly face for emphasis. He's an empty suit..

31. Normally, I'd agree but I think he really clutches on to his "spiritual"
advisors like some lost soul(which he is) and they say, "stem cells bad' and he grabs hold of that idea and goes with it.

14. There was a thread quite a while ago about an article in the paper
about a rich Republican, pro-life Texan who became paralized and he went to China, where abortion is the norm, and paid lots of money for treatment from stem cells. With Republicans, it's all about me, me, me, so I believe if there had been a treatment from stem cells at the time his sister was alive, Hell, yes they would have used it, but still would be against it for others. Remember when Bush Sr was asked if one of his nieces became pregnant and wanted an abortion, what would he do. He said he would try to talk her out of an abortion, but ultimately it would be up to her. Asswipes.

17. Those attitudes are not democratic, but royal in nature. We rule by what
we think is right for the masses, but we (our family) get to make our own choices.

19. Apparently a poor kid from Arkansas in a single-parent home
is capable of grand conspiracies and had had his whole life orchestrated and laid out by unseen "powers" who now control him, but proposing that the wealthy son of a powerful family with far-reaching political and business connections might be involved in some shady conspiracies is just "insane".

make him suspect to those who do it by connections, money and family power.

25. If stem cell research would have saved Robin, the Bushes would have
taken advantage of it... legal or not... they would do anything for any and all of their spawn. Doesn't mean it would become available for us commoners... we have little value to them other than as targets for domination... we are easily discarded in their eyes.

Culture of life? Corporate life, yes... human life, no.

28. Exactly
If stem cells could have saved her daughter Barb would've hacked open the first the first pregnant woman she saw to get some, not because of some maternal devotion (I don't see that in her at all) but just because the Bushes don't give a fuck about other people.
