Not enough, but in most cases we agree about the problems, just not the solutions. It's healthy to have that argument, and sometimes, it's good to lose. We basically stole the term deficit hawk from them. I am a total deficit hawk; it's OK to borrow to do something as long as the repayment mechanism is there and whatever program you are paying for, say highways, has an exit strategy.

My next youngest brother is a lifelong Republican, but he never had the hate on social issues. Now, very slowly, he is coming over to my side. In large part, that is because I have never been extreme on fiscal issues. The best tax cut you can give the poor and the middle class is lowering the deficit, as Clinton did. The best way to reward the rich is to explode deficits, as Bush has done. To him, that brought everything else Smirk did into question. It's not like he's going to become a raving Dem, but he didn't vote for Bush last time. He thinks the far right has taken over the GOP and are pushing religion and war as ways to get the goobers to vote for them, rather than making rational arguments.

I told him, the GOP hates you, you know. You're a RINO and god they hate your guts. Join a third party if you must, but get out of the GOP.
