Attention! Calling all former Crossfire fans!
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 07:52 PM by senseandsensibility
Now that Crossfire is no more, what was the most blatant lie, irritating comment, or disgusting below the belt attack you ever heard Novak make on the show?

I was a fan of that show for at least ten years. I didn't watch at all last year. But I still have many memories of "No Facts" and his horrible spinning and interrupting, not to mention flat out lying.

One that stands out for me is the time, many years ago, when the show topic was the minimum wage. Now, I know this will surprise you, but No Facts was against an increase in the minimum wage for the workers of America. I believe his co-host then was Michael Kinsley. Kinsley said something along the lines that it would take two full-time minimum wage jobs just to provide the bare necessities of life. No Facts blurted out with no hesitation that he knew many people personally who worked two full time fast food jobs, and what was wrong with that? Does anyone here believe this obvious lie, which he wasn't called on? Yes, that's No Facts, man of the people. He associates with fast food workers and the minimum wage workers of America, and he knows what's good for them, too.:banghead: :puke:

1. How do you know he was lying?

Maybe he knows the KFC/Taco Bell CEO. That's two fast-food jobs, see?

6. oh, nofacts was lying, like a fukking rug on floor!
much like potassium cyanide kills, or cows go home at milking time, or leaves fall in the autumn, nofacts talks, and lies result!....it's really an unusual phenomenon...for a tv pundit to be 100 percent liar 100 percent of the time! (i think his employers maybe were grossly cheated, as nofacts pretended to be something he couldn't possibly be, a professional newsman!)

3. What a douchebag.
Few people have worked so hard to earn so apt a nickname as the Douchebag for Liberty.

They should have stopped the show right then and said, all right, Novakula, show me the 80-week burger flippers, or you're OUTTA HERE.

4. Now that we've killed Crossfire
How do we bring it back and really demonstrate our power?

It strikes me at least that eliminating Crossfire (only to see it replaced with more Wolf Blitzer Distorts) is a funny kind of progress to celebrate.

14. I remember his comments
when he appeared, and I agreed with them. But do you really think he's powerful enough to cancel a long running show like that single handedly? After all, the people at CNN probably look down their noses at him as a mere "comedian", while they are "real" journalists. Gag.

12. yeah
As silly as it could be, it was just about the only tv show where you could hear strong criticism of BushCo.

7. I agree that my thread isn't
earth shattering, but I wouldn't agree that it's worthless. I enjoy pointing out republican hypocrisy, and I think it's worthwhile to do so. Apparently, some people agree. The fact that another topic may not receive as many responses is out of my control, but in any case, I don't think you can measure a topic's impact by responses alone. As one DUer pointed out to me, people that read and agree with a thread don't always post. Perhaps they just read the linked article, think about it, adsorb it, and move on.

9. you're right, but....
a mentally limited youth who's mother speaks no english gets conned by US Army recruiter to visit mil. base where, a few days later, he tells his mother he is under orders etc (meaning he's in the forces!)...i mean, RAF, what the hell can anyone say about such a mess? when I read Sen. Wellstone was killed in crash, I nearly destroyed my computer! Since then, a kinda indifference to all the bushevik crap has set in (i notice so many of the heavy posters from a couple years ago have since faded away...)...one would hope such a garish example of perfidity as the kidnapping of this young man would trip action among those who care for him....if not(?)...i don't know....

11. Novakula Killed That Show
I was a regular viewer from its early days of Buchanan vs. Braden through Kinsley vs. Sununu and Press vs. Maitlin...this was when the show really did what Turner intended it to do...present the different sides and then let the viewers decide. That changed with Novakula and his cohorts.

The worst move was putting this show in front of an audience. It became a Roman circus and now the guests were playing up to the audience rather than attempting to be factual or honest. In 2002, I had the chance to sit in on a show at GW and it could have been a game show the way it was being run...and it wasn't as bad then as it became later.

Novakula is a smarmy, mean-spirited hypocrite who somehow gets a free pass from a majority of the corporate media despite his treasonous, venonomous and now over-the-top antics. He could taut his Opus Dei version of Catholocism and berate Paul Begala...a Catholic since birth. He never really appologized.

He also constanly interupts guests and those with other opinions with his slimy, condescending semi-lecture. He'll try to pull rank with "I was here back then" or "now your parents taught you better than to say such thing" or "i know how you think and this is what I think you really mean..."...all with that shit eatin' grin. He reminds me of the Jacob Marley character in the Alastair Sim version of A Christmas Carol...or was it Scrooge. Doesn't matter.

Begala and Carville really never fit into that show and were obviously restrained in the topics that they covered and how they could attack Repugnicans, while Novakula and his hacks (including that incidious Joe Watkins) would spew lies and insults and outshout or interupt guests without impunity.

Good riddence to Crossfire. Another great concept squandered by greed and manipulation.

13. Good examples
I think I only watched it a handful of times after it switched to a live audience, but there was a time when I was seriously addicted. I watched it everyday, and it really did try to give both sides. I do miss THAT show, but it's been gone for years.

15. I loved it when Tom Braden and Pat Buchanan were on.
Then each time Buchanan ran for President he had to leave and they got Novak. I couldn't stand him then and I can't stand him now. I didn't mind Buchanan because even though I disagreed with him he wasn't mean. Novak is really evil.

I can't see how they let him on Crossfire and Capital Gang all these years. He has no answers except personal attacks against the questioners. Good riddance indeed.

16. The image of Robert Novak lying on the floor of his bathroom
with a broken hip, just laying there in pain, calling out for help, but no one can hear.
