It's the Democratic Party, not the Democrat Party
Republicans use the lingo, Democrat Party, because they don't like that our real party name means equality and justice.

We should call them on it everytime they use it. Journalists should too, since it's not proper English.

It's the DEMOCRATIC party and the fuckers can't change our name no matter how hard they try.

1. In fact.
It is The National Democratic Party of The United States. I believe that is the formal title.

2. The Democratic party also is a huge umbrella,
encompassing many, or trying to. The word Democrat limits that idea.

3. Lemme tell you...
Whenever you hear a newsman, commentator or talk show host say "Democrat Party", you know who's pocket he or she is in. I think Limpball started this newspeak and it has become part of the lingo just like "left coast" has.

Just as you say, every Democrat should interrupt and correct this insult.

5. I think this was Newt Gingrich "speak" - Democrat Party
It came into use with the Contract for America that he brought in.

You're right, it's a derrougatory term and we should correct it every time we hear it.

11. Wow, I didn't know that
That error annoys me too, but I thought it was simply a semantic flub. This is good to know and connects some dots now that I think about it.

7. Yep, it's one of my pet peeves
and I don't understand why it is tolerated as legitimate discourse. Newsmen and women should be CORRECTING Republicans when they use it. Or at least noting it in their coverage as a Republican ploy.

17. Democrat is the noun
Democratic is the adjective.

I belong to the Democratic party, therefore I call myself a Democrat.

The right-wingers like to skip the adjective and just use Democrat. It's not only obnoxious, but it's incorrect.

Feels like fingernails on chalkboard to me.

12. I understand, but I'm not going to bash users of Democrat
If I did I would have to take my county party to task for the big awning over our HQ that says Democrat Party. I just patiently and politely answer Democratic Party Headquarters, may I help you? I make sure that anything I send out refers to the Democratic Party; and if someone asks I explain the difference. Making a big stink about it in my area would just hurt feelings. We need every member, Democrat or Democratic, if we are going to make a difference.

13. I have heard
Democratic Party Congresspeople and Senators use it recently, much to my surprise. Perhaps they should be called on it and be put on notice to correct their opponents in the talking head shout matches as well as the "journalists" who host them.
