Anybody seen the movie "Crash"? Just saw it today and got

to say it was very heavy. I came away with thinking we are all basically assholes with a little bit of good in each and every one of us. Movie was more than a little disturbing.

to get you thinking and examining yourself and the why you oerceive others. My sister and I discussed for several hours.
I highly recommend it.

The movie reminded me of 'Short Cuts' and 'Grand Canyon'.

It sure makes LA look like a shit hole.

The recent one with Sandra Bullock, or the one from a few years ago with James Spader? I haven't seen the recent one, but I remember having to watch the older one in college - it was pretty strange.

8. Seen it a few times. Very weird, disturbing, oddly compelling

My wife read the book (after we saw the movie) and liked the book as well.

If you like this sort of odd/disturbing material, I recommend the books "Apocalypse Culture" and "Apocalypse Culture II" from Feral House Press.

9. Thanks. I'll check out those books for future reading. Just don't

know if I can become more disturbed than I already am under the current climate in the US. ha You're right about this movie being "oddly compelling"; it was so disturbing you come out saying "did I like that or not?" I think I did like it because mainly the cast was excellent. I have always been a fan of Sandra Bullock, but am now convinced she can do it all, drama, comedy, whatever. The entire cast was good.

10. I like the part where the closer you were to the issue - the wiser you

got. Like the pathologist who put - you know what she did to her dad - who else would know how stupid guns are?

The naive cop ends up making a mistake because of his inexperience.

Showed how lethal guns were and how often 'the heat of the moment' could pass if only a gun wasn't handy!

12. Just saw the movie this afternoon -- fascinating performances,

a great script, an unforgettable movie.

I recommend it highly -- after it's over, you can think about reactions YOU have to other people that are racially motivated.

It's not for the faint-hearted.

Just one question -- the director Paul Haggis gives a memorial to someone at the end -- born in 1942, died in 2004, I believe -- a woman? Does anyone know about that dedication?

14. I know when he originally wrote the script he gave it to an African

American woman mentor of his to see what she would see in it. I wondered if it was her. Don't know.

Sure I saw it, 25 years in the making from the ballard short story, why wouldn't I see it.

Oh, there's another film of the same title. No, duh, ain't seen it yet. I will but give me time to get over.
