And we will not all have either a quick or "lingering and painful" death. The rule has to do with wishing someone death or harm, and to encourage people to think about/discuss someone's death, particularly "lingering and painful" would be considered by case law to be advocating it. I have no respect for Bob Novak. I could use many, many negative adjectives about the man and his political positions, as could you, without urging people to entertain the thought of his death. Certainly you are aware that many instances of violence have been attributed to the influence of reading or viewing descriptions of inflicting pain/death on others, both in fact(copycat crimes) and in fiction (violent scenes in films).

Even your edited post wishes harm (pain)on someone, and I think it is against rule 3.

...something I didn't see, or else they know something I don't. I wasn't aware that Bob Novak was sick (if he is). The poll question didn't specify what KIND of pain, so my take on it was shame and embarrassment at being exposed for the douchebag he is--maybe even imprisonment for his part in the Valerie Plame affair. Just for the record, I answered YES! As someone else said upstream, "God may be merciful, but I'm not."
