Did I miss something about the British election?

I thought that Labour won. Now I'm seeing C-SPAN and a bunch of conservatives are gloating about winning? WTF?

2. I don't know what's on C-SPAN, but, they've got 2 reasons to gloat..

1) is the tories gained about 33 seats - the labour majority was cut by more than half, to (I think, without checking) 66. This means that the 30-40 actually left-wing labour mp's can theoretically wield a lot of power, since in a vote on party lines they can inflict a defeat (assuming all non-labour mp's vote against the government), except that:

2) The policies labour announced after they got back into parliament are pretty much what the tories would have done anyway.. so on any vote where the labour lefties are against the government, it's likely that the tories (or a discreet but adequate number of them) will support the government, and thus vote labour's RW policies through.

Sigh.
