People aren't perfect. Anderson Cooper isn't perfect .A short
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 06:40 PM by saracat
while ago , people were lionizing Anderson Cooper for the bang up interview he did with Jeff Gannon. Today he is dog meat because some don't like a Dean clip he is running. The same with Christane Amnapour. She was the Goddess of News. She asked a comment to elicit and answer and some moved to crucify her. Reporters don't have to always agree or present the news in a manner of which you approve to be good. I hope KO doesn't pay any attention to this silliness.

1. LOL! That always happens here.
Knee jerk responses happen sometimes, and with 70,000 people here, all politically conscious, there are bound to be people who get pissed off at whatever.

Good luck!

2. I know, that is why I posted this!
I just get tired of it sometimes! And they always put the entire blame on the reporter as though they were somehow omniscient!

3. Except that Cooper knows, or should know
That the Dean Scream footage is the result of a recording that doesn't reflect the reality of all the noise in the room when it happened, and is therefore a patently dishonest rendering of what was going on at the time. Even then, it would be perfectly all right to air the clip, except that the Dean Scream has become stock CNN footage for its tacit case that Dean is crazy.

You surely don't see CNN running and rerunning footage of the Dim Son falling off the Segway, do you?

4. I haven't watched to know the context but I have no idea what
part Anderson played in selecting the clip. Maybe nothing. But his type of show doesn't require him to reflect anyone's opinion. I wouldn't expect Scarbourough to reflect my opinion. Maybe Anderson doesn't agree with you about the clip? Maybe he isn't interested one way or another. All I am saying is no one knows. This may not be Anderson it may be CNN.Whatever the reason is we don't know.In any event, he is still a great interviwer .

7. However, based on CNN's past performance
CNN General Manager Princell Hair, in the two weeks after the Iowa primary when CNN ran the Scream 633 times, allowed as how they might have overplayed the footage. Anderson Cooper, whose paycheck sports the CNN logo, really should know about his own network's background on this; I mean, I'm just a guy with a dial-up modem and three working brain cells and I know about this. By playing the footage two more times Cooper just continues the abuse of this dishonest bit of tape.

I guess I'm not willing to cut Cooper any slack, given his network's record on this particular subject.

8. So, is he supposed to quit because he has a crap network?
You would feel better if he was unemployed? I am grateful for the occasional great interview. If he quit, we wouldn't even have that!We may not like all network decisions but to hold the people who work for them responsible isn't right. I'll bet it would surprise you to know how many people who work for FOX are Democrats. It surprised me.And sometimes they can sneak in their view. I am grateful to these people.

9. Is he supposed to quit?
How did you leap to that conclusion? I'm just asking him to do his job responsibly. If that's beyond his ability, then maybe he should quit. Or, just learn how to do his job responsibly -- or isn't he getting paid enough to take three minutes to do a smidgen of research?

10. He has no might not have any authority over what clip is shown.
The producer may insist on a particular clip. He wouldn't have the ability to refuse to run it. That has nothing to do with research or being "responsible'. His job is likely to do what the network wants. Some may feel that is "irresponsible' and if he doesn't approve of the Networks choice , he should quit. Tha is what I meant. I think we are lucky he sneaks in as much real news as he does. Everyone has already seen the dean clip and it isn't a big deal anymore.

6. Which site was it...
That had the original video of Dean's speech? You know, the one where the "background noise" (the crowd cheering wildly, so wildly that Dean had to yell) was removed?
