A good and powerful point about Iraq
I'm listening to Malloy and a caller called in and told how he was at a game site and they were talking about German soliders and he made a mention of the soliders in Iraq. The guy said if Iraq was really and truly a just war we would be having honors and memorials for the soliders and showing their photo's of their casket's and funerals. But for whatever reason they said "no" to that until the ACLU won that case.
If Bush and his followers really believe this war really is justified why don't they honor the soliders? Why don't they take care of them in Veteran hospitals and when they return home? Why do they have to return to poverty in a lot of cases and have PTSD? 60% of soliders who return have some form of brain damage and Bush has done shit about it, yet he flew in the middle of the night to sign that fucking bill of Terri Schavio? John Kerry made a bill for veterans earlier this year and every republican but one voted against it. I also read in another post how recently someone in the House made a bill to try to get out of Iraq. Only a few republicans voted for it and a 100 something democrats.

1. Why did they take Carrie French?
They have no problem with taking 19 year old females and sending them to their death?

2. I was listening the other day to Randi Rhodes ......
and she said our troops when they do get out of their service for our Country over-seas (Iraq) have to pay for their own flight ticket home. :grr: Oh and that's not all ... anything they 'damage' while they were in over there they get 'billed for' :wow: I never looked into confirming that one anywhere online but anytime I've looked into whatever else Randi has said, well she's been right on target. If that includes combat damage ...... well......sigh ..... peace. :banghead:

3. My brother had to cough up $1000 to fly home from Germany
He was stationed in Germany, sent to Iraq for 12, I mean 15, months. When he got back to Germany, he was told when he could fly home, and how to get in touch with a travel agent. $1000. Nice.

He was one of the lucky ones in the first run to be extended during his "stay"

4. I commend your brothers service to our country ....
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 12:25 AM by doublethink
by serving in our armed forces. :patriot: Our government needs to take care of our Veterans, it's mandatory no questions asked in my mind. It's appalling what this administration stands for. Truly appalling. Again thank your brother for his service, America owes him and all our Veterans better. Much better. Peace.

oh here's a story along those same lines .. http://216.109.117.135/search/cache?p=Iraq+Veterans+Billed&prssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&SpellState=n-1656537196_q-jNkHnzFDU%2FtCsBMNpxld0gABAA%40%40&u=www.recordonline.com/archive/2004/12/10/abandon1.htm&w=iraq+veterans+billed&d=6FBB40DA37&icp=1&.intl=us

8. That's army policy and always has been; your brother's home base is
Germany.

Any flights he wants to take anywhere on leave, he has to pay for it.

That's always been the case.

14. If you mean to come home on leave from Germany
...I can understand this. The military doesn't pay for personal trips for active duty personnel, only duty station to duty station, and of course they cover getting you back to the States when you separate.

However, for personnel willing to put up with the hassle, it's possible to catch a military flight to another US military air station, just about anywhere in the world, for a pittance. Just be prepared for a long wait and no frills (like instead of a seat you get a cozy spot in a cargo net!).

7. Not true! Sorry Randi!
They have to pay for their FURLOW flights from point of landing in the USA to their destination.

When troops go on their 2-week leave, they are flown into whatever military base in the USA; from that base, they have to pay to get to wherever they're going for their 2 week leave.

They DO NOT pay their own flights home after overseas duty ends.

12. Already did.
On leave, the military flies you back to the base you are stationed at. Anywhere you want to go from there, that's your nickle.

Always been that way.

9. Disgusting
I hate this so much. Pisses me off so bad! But yet people still believe the democrats and all others hate the troops because we don't have a fucking sticker on our car and we don't proclaim the war is justified.

6. Where is the bill?
I'd like to see that.. print it up with a big rejected splashed across it.

They keep saying we aren't offering any soultions or any bills for the senate to approve. I know this to be bullshit but the "liberal" media gets a repuke on, it's some of the shit they bring up.

I think we need to make a book of bills rejected, a binder of refused and rejected work for 2006 and start walking around with it house to house.

13. Anything that reduces their profit margin has been tossed out.

Not taking adequate care of people after they've been wounded has always been true to some extent in this country, but Bush and Co. have taken this philosophy to a new, lower level.

Basically, they use people and they throw them away. Sort of like kleenex.
