went to my in laws last night and i told them that my hubby thinks i should run for office here locally and i told them that i am more into national politics and my sister in law said.. "oh i just don't like politics... i was watching msnbc or one of them and they were talking about some memo ... i cant remember the name... but seems like people are really upset about it and all i could say was ... who cares about one memo... politics are just so nasty who can get into it"

she is very intelligent , but the "average" person who isn't into politics like we are just don't care they don't understand what is going on and they think it doesn't affect them...
and thats why bush will never get impeached and why some idiots still give him good ratings....

You watch as the Downing Street Minutes gain more momentum, and how they soon become unavoidable in the media. That will happen as more of us stoke the fires - calling our local TV and radio stations, writing more letters to the editor, calling the comment lines of CNN and MSNBC - and helping folks like John Conyers (www.johnconyers.com). The more pushing we contribute to the effort, the farther it'll go. Soon it'll be water cooler talk. Then, even the most pigheaded will at least have heard more about it than just some memo or something.

And, one other thing. If you feel it's just a losing proposition to work on her enlightenment - THEN WORK ON SOMEBODY ELSE'S!

Thats what its all about. If you want their attention hit them in the wallet. If it doesn't hit them there or someone in there immediate family they don't give two shits.

Want to know why Bush has such low approval? Insane gas prices, that and the cost of other goods have gone way up.. that affects the wallet. If gas was 1.30 it wouldn't matter how many troops got killed over in Iraq each day because the wallet is full, we have plenty of money to fill up the ski-boat, the SUV and its Friday baby! My mother-in-law just died and we were at her memorial on Sunday - and I counted TWO redemption stories in just the small gathering in attendance. My brother-in-law started grumbling about how bush was such a liar and that every decision he's ever made - my brother-in-law would have made the exact opposite choice, and on and on. I told him to check www.johnconyers.com. Then, my husband's best friend comes up to us and says his radical knuckle-dragger sister has come into the light. The last time they saw each other, evidently, she was hissing about how bush is such a liar and she feels so angry about it, "how he lied about the war and all that!"

Good! I think we're gonna hear more and more and more of this. This is GOOD stuff, guys.

We just have to keep encouraging it, helping it along.

Because the mainstream media has been cowtowed and beaten into believing it had a liberal bias, they now err on the side of at the very least "balance". Which means that even in the best cases, no factual liberal voice can be heard without it being countered with a conservative rebuttal, even if that rebuttal has zero facts.

So all the average person sees even in the best of circumstances is political bickering. Nothing is allowed to just stand on it's own with facts. It sucks.

I don't think anyone on here is even close to any reasonable definition of "on the fence". We may disagree on some issues but overall believe that a liberal leaning society is a positive one.

There' tens of millions of people in that middle ground who probably would believe that if exposed to the right information properly, but who also have no time or patience to do all this reasearch than many of us do in order to wade through the annoying din and buzz that is evident withint most mainstream news reports.

Besides, everyone knows that Bush lied about Iraq. It's simply not a big surprise to people. I think often some folks on DU think that they're smarter than the average person on the street, or better informed, or something. I don't think that's trued. I think people know what's going on: some like it, some don't, some shrug because they feel otherwise powerless. I don't think the distribution of some documentation on Bush's lies is very useful at all.

18. DMS not getting out on media TV

I teach adult classes, yesterday during a break, 4 students were in a discussion about bush, I casually asked what they thought abought the DSM. I got completely blank stares and no one knew of it! I had printed out a dozen copies of it and asked if anyone wanted one, gave out 8. They then bombbarded me with all kinds of questions. It was a good time to give out Conyors web, DU, and a few others I thought they would find of interest. The break turned into an hour long discussion, everyone in the class of 13 do not like this administration, several were repugs who did not vote for him or are sorry they did. It was a productive day, I'll print out more copies and have them ready, yes, people are waking up! The Media will eventually have to address this issue if people start asking questions
