our Resident-Bush-Supporter (RSB) at work went blathering on how Bolton and judges should just have an up or down vote...

I sort of shocked him when I said I agreed that up/down votes should be done across the board, including elections - and then tossed in "You realize, of course, if we had a straight up/down vote during the 2000 presidential elections that bush* would not be president..."

... prevented upordownvotes on 65 of Clinton's judicial nominees.

Of course, as soon as they had the power, they killed the procedural process that facilitated that prevention.
