Look at these questions from a U.S. Visa Application
"Do you seek to enter the United States to engage in export control violations, subversive or terrorist activities, or any other unlawful purpose?

Are you a member or representative of a terrorist organization as currently designated by the U.S. Secretary of State?

Have you ever participated in persecutions directed by the Nazi government of Germany; or have you ever participated in genocide?"

I guess this is why we didn't know about the hijackers until after 9-11. They must have answered "No" to these questions.

2. How dumb! That's like asking us
who packed our luggage. If I don't want you to know, I'd lie. Not that I ever have...

3. There is a reason for these questions
If the Gov't has any probable cause to believe that you lied on your Visa application, they can detain you indefinitely. So if you are seen talking to a person on the watch list or taking pictures of "possible targets", zip off to jail. No hearing, no habeous corpus, no lawyer, just a cell.

5. ah good point. But then couldnt they...
just make random questions about anything to try to trap you in a lie? Still seems pretty silly to me. I mean, they don't even tell you who the terrorist organizations are on the form so how are you to know that they aren't labelling the DU a "terrorist organization" unless you call them and get the list, which would surely evoke some suspicion.

6. Yes, the most fun quiz ever
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 03:24 PM by Kellanved
Even in the drunk state one usually is when they start handing them out, the answers are obvious. But the important part of these forms is not the quiz part; that's just to get the page full. The important part is where one waives all legal rights against the US immigration authorities under all and any circumstances.
