TinyURL: Having problems posting links to other web sites?

The front page of TinyURL has an excellent tutorial. For easy use, you can even add TinyURL to your browser’s toolbar. With this feature, you can easily generate tiny URLs for any page you are visiting. It’s a really worthwhile tool if you share links.

1. Don't : tinyurl hides the actual url of the link

It forces the reader to actually click on it to find out the source of the information. It may cause big trouble at work for instance, should a tinyurl resolves to a banned/dangerous page.

Also, with the omission of the source, the information can be meaningless. Many people won't click on such an anonymous link. I certainly won't.

Then you should consider that tinyurls aren't valid for a long time. In a few weeks, somebody browsing the archives will be unable to find your source - definitely not nice.


So, please use DU's superior url-formatting like this:

and not some strange company's nasty attempt to re-invent the wheel.
