1. Last Republican worth half a turd.
But even he realized they were scumbags and left the party.

4. I disagree.
I see him as the last true conservative.

5. That's why he left the Republican party and founded the Progressive Party.
No arguments here.

14. Good call.
Second-to-last Republican worth half a turd.

We could use an Eisenhower these days, too. Shame that Clark isn't filling that role.

3. Too much of a war monger
We have too many domestic problems that need fixing. TR was way too concerned about his own place in history.

6. He was a big time imperialist...
...so I guess his spirit is partly here, already.

7. Imperialist, racist, conservationist, anti-corporatist
Odd man, full of contradictions. He would support conservation on the one hand, yet make exceptions for his own family. He would save a baby bear cub, but slaughter hundreds of animals on safari in Africa. He was the first president to dine in the White House with a black man, yet he discharged an entire troop of black soldiers on charges he knew were lies.

His anti-corporate stance was undermined by his imperialist attempts to control the world's economies.

There's a reason conservatives and liberals both find things to like about him--he flip-flopped on every issue, thus appealing to both.

I wonder if the next Teddy Roosevelt is Colin Powell.

8. Personally, I think America needs the next Thomas Jefferson.
An enlightened leader who will pull us out of this dumbing-down we've suffered through for the last 30 years.

9. I think we've probably already got a Nelson Mandela...
but I doubt we'll ever let him out of prison...and no one will ever get to see his words in a newspaper.

And no...I don't know who he is...I just suspect that he is out there somewhere.

Happy thoughts.

10. Oh hell yeah
Thomas Jefferson would be gooooooood. Despite his own contradictions, the philosophy is sound. He was a man before his time -- actually, a timeless man.

11. My main desire for another TR is the strength and forward
movement he desired. Plus, despite his priviledged background, he was a REAL FUCKING MAN. Whether male or female, the Progressive movement needs some more cojones. Period.

13. He was a fucking imperialist with foreign policy
While I agree with his trust-busting stance on domestic policy, Teddy should be absolutely condemned with foreign policy.
