I did it all, alone no less, and I don't get what all the fuss and heroics are about. It's enjoyable for the most part, but seriously... why all the fuss? It's not like they're the first humans or anything.

However, they are the first humans I have given birth to. Everything about being a parent is great, the good and the bad. If that is a great accomplishment for me so be it. If is is just an experience for you, well, so be it also.

After latching problems, mastitis, and so on, I felt it was a great accomplishment. I also have a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry that I think is a great accomplishment. To each their own. Everyone prioritizes their lives differently.

mine are gone and making their own accomplishments. Breastfeeding was a wonderful bonding experience yes..and appreciated those moments to relax. But.. raising brilliant considerate humans takes a lot more than that.

My fear is that those people who can't breastfeed (like single working moms) will feel degraded in some way that they didn't have the "experience" Mothers endure enough guilt.

And your comment about who could find it disgusting... I agree..but perhaps I missed it here but saw no one say that?

They are 4 and 2. I guess the memory is still a little fresh! Sometimes I miss it.

The "disgusting" remark was actually related to the whole View, Barbara Walters fiasco. Sorry about the mix up.

In my humble opinion parenting is a great accomplishment. There are times where it seems that the other things I have done in my life were a piece of cake!

the other side of the coin. I appreciate it as I am sure other women reading that didn't breastfeed because they were unable to either because of disease/medications/or failure of an infant to thrive.

My accomplishment with my kid has been raising a kind, decent human being that is aware of other people's feelings.

I would never discount any mother who was unable to, could not for any reason, or did not want to breastfeed. I was raised by a single mom who had to put me in daycare at the age of 2 weeks so she could pay our bills. It is a personal choice.
