Lady sez, "Richard asked me to call you to see if you want prayer or to make a pledge." I wish I had recorded this call but to shorten a 5 minute conversation down, it amounted to roughly this: Me: "Why would Richard ask you to call me? I haven't seen or talked to him in 30 years" Her: "Well, the holy spirit directed him" Me: "I see, well as it happens, I have known the Roberts family well since I was their neighbor in the 1950s when they lived 2 blocks away and their youngest son Ronnie was a good friend of mine in school." Her: "You knew Ronnie in Viet Nam?" Me: "Not there, I knew him well long before that...I was in their home when we were in high school...he didn't commit suicide until after his time in Viet Nam and he was a good guy who understood the rest of his family were raking in boatloads of money from gullible, guilt-ridden idiots who were scammed by these low-life criminal assholes." Her: Uh.... Me: "I think there probably are not very many truly evil people on this planet, but the Roberts gang is near the top of my list of them. I don't believe in Hell, but I hope I'm wrong because those kinds of people deserve the hottest and deepest pit there." Her: Ohhhh....I'm sorry
(Gonna leave off quotation marks now, too much trouble to type) Me: Sorry for what? That you are soliciting money for a clan of money-grubbing hypocrite assholes? I blame the whole bunch for Ronnie killing himself, he told me he knew what a scam his daddy was running back in 1958. Her: I will see that your name is taken off our calling list. Me: Great. See that you do. (I've been getting letters from these scumbags regularly the past year or so but this is the first time they had the audacity to actuall call on the telephone.) :grr:
