I don't know anyone here in the UK who's even heard of the Downing Street Minutes let alone have an opinion on it. And because I don't read the Sunday Times it's doubtful I would have heard about it if I didn't visit DU.

A lot of people may be cross with Blair over Iraq but I can assure you, it has nothing to do with the the DSM.

UK believed Blair lied to them about the invasion and that ties to the memos that were leaked, there were more than one, detailing the run up to the invasion.

Given the BBC documentary Iraq, Tony and the Truth aired before the election as well as well as the commentary during the election when blair was losing seats was attributing it to Iraq.

Did British citizens state I voted against Blair because of the DSM, no, but they did say they voted against him because he lied which is what is shown in the DSM.

I'm not disputing that a great many people believe Blair lied but that belief is not a consequence of the minutes, I can assure you. People have come to the conclusion of Blair's mendacity independent of the DSM revelation. The minutes are simply the final nail in the coffin. Which is why the media in the UK is doing it's best to ignore it.

38. I agree with your point in that it was not the DSM, per se, that

the British citizens are angry about in isolation from all the other issues surrounding Blair's lies about Iraq. The poll I linked to shows that the majority already believed Blair lied and that was before the leak of the DSM.

When I answered the poster on the issue of British anger, it was not meant to infer it was the DSM alone that was causing the anger, only that they were and angry about Blair's lies in total.

43. The minutes did lead the news stories on the Sunday before the election

when the Sunday Times printed them. If you remember, the days between then and the election were basically about Blair's trustworthiness, due in large part to the minutes being released then. But after the election, when it became clear that those who cared that Blair lied to take us into an illegal war had intended to vote against him anyway, the story was dropped.
