Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 09:04 PM by DistressedAmerican
Will this FINALLY stick or a week from now will we all be disappointed as the American public once again shrugs its shoulders in the face of the truth about this lying son of a bitch?

1. Broadcast media will do their "duty" by mentioning it (once or twice),
and papers will put it on page 14. The media is totally controlled now.

2. It seems like the Valerie Plame story (remember that?) - they'll make it
go away the same way. (they = media)

6. hard to gauge impact at this time
Nixon's cover-up took a couple of years to reach a boiling point. Just my opinion, but I don't think Watergate would have reached major scandal level if it were not for the anti-war mood

We are sort of seeing the same thing now -- we know bush* lied about WMDS, and now we have the DSM that shows intell was manipulated to fit a scenario. We are also seeing that more americans think Iraq was and is a mistake. Then there is the growing anti-incumbent sentiment towards Congress, (more anti-repug than anti-Dem)

I think the possibility of a serious move for impeachment is going to be contingent on how well or poorly the midterm (S)elections go and if the radical-reich is tossed out of Congress or their control is seriously hamstrung.

There are many moderate republicans that don't like the current direction of the radical-reich, but they are also afraid of what will happen to them if they rock the boat.

This might cause a few flames...but what the hell - maybe the Dems need to reach out to the moderate-Republicans, I'm not talking about compromise, but rather "unity". Both Dems and Moderate Republicans campaigning on a theme of uniting to do what is best for ALL OF AMERICA and not for what is best for a given party or special/corporate interests... After all we've been divided 18 ways to hell by bush*'s uniter rhetoric

7. I'll drink to that....
And also, the good republicans and democrats need to smack down Biden and whoever is allying themselves totally with corporate interests. I'm sick of the democrats and republicans in name supporting this war and saying how great it is for their pocketbooks, this is totally out of touch with the people. We need full fledged accountability here, not more neocon garbage to sift through.
