be overcome with practice and experience. Not expecting Gandhi but expecting someone who can be clearly understood and doesn't have to backtrack so frequently.

I also think the press is purposely pulling whatever quotes they can find about him out of context, as with the Edwards malarky.

And something tells me that if there wasn't a Dem somewhere misspeaking, the media would go into the archives and "relive the memory" as it were.

It ain't easy living under a microscope. Bound to get a bit toasty under there.

I do agree, however, that he can use some polish, but in some ways, I saw more polish in his MTP interview this last time that wasn't there the first time I saw him. So hopefully he is learning.

Mostly what I want out of him is to make the party drink it's milk and grow up big and strong in our bones. As long as what he says doesn't muck that up, I'm relatively cool with him.

6. Dean is being deliberately misquoted.

Dean actually said. "SOME Republicans never made an honest living in their lives". In every case the word "some" is dropped from the quote.

taken in context, Teresa was trying to say something nice. Taken out of context, the way the Repubs like to operate, it said something else.

Dean is my spokesman. He's gonna turn a new leaf in this tired old moribund party and the first leaves he's gonna turn are those on that damned shrub they've been hiding our democracy behind!

Mr. Dean, I mean it, you can speak for me all day long and into the night. You tell thos bastards what we are thinking - Some republicans have never worked an honest days work in their whole damned pitiful lives.

You claim that you want people to be challenging and honest, but you do not. You attack them like censoring fascists every time.

9. No, Dean not thinking before speaking.

I have no problem with what he was trying to say. The problem is that he's actually been saying is different than what he was trying to say. A sympathetic audience will fill in the blanks, and understand what he was getting at. A suspicious audience won't, and we need those people's votes as well.

Hopefully, Dean learns from this. He'd be much more effective in making his point if he ran this stuff by people who could say, "Howard, here's a better way of saying that..." Notice I didn't say here's a way to tone it down.

Remember those lessons in colonial America where everyone stands up, and sits down, one by one, as the rules of who can vote are read off. Women, blacks, catholics, non-property owners... If Dean wanted to say accurately what he was getting at, he'd play one of those games with the audience. Sit down if you're not a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h...Then he'd bring them back to their feet, by having them stand up if they're gay, black, hindu, have children in college, are veterans, pay social security taxes, work for a living, don't have millionaire parents, breathe air, drink water. Encourage them to get loud and louder if they've already stood up. Then you add the one-liner for your press releases, "This is America, and the Democratic Party is the party of the people of America. All the people" Wash, spin, repeat.

That is how you make your point, bring down the house, successfully pass the hat, and reinforce the point that your opponents are batshit crazy and have hidden agendas to hurt the people who trust them.
