It was a war of choice - not necessity. That is the truth. And nobody in the Bush immediate family has died yet. It was his choice.

That's his problem as a tactician. That, above everything else, is why we're screwed. I honestly think he's going on some religious vision out of Raiders of the Lost Ark. We could have taken Hussein down, and installed a working government, if Bush had the guts to commit enough troops in the first weeks. Remember, it took about 3-6 months after the fall of Baghdad for the insurgency to get rolling. Before then, we were considered warily, but genuinely nonetheless, as the people who at least took down a dictator.

Exhibit A: Tora Bora/Op. Anaconda. Bush fails to deploy an airborne division into the fight. Bin Laden and his senior leadership escape the siege.

Exhibit B: Drive on Baghdad/Op. Iraqi Freedom. Bush ignores advice from his Army Chief of Staff (who Rumsfeld boots) and his Army secretary (who Rumsfeld boots). They wanted 300-400,000 troops. Bush had how many, about 100,000 in Iraq by April 2003?
