Wake up. The media framing of the Dean chairmanship has begun.
He's a lunatic. He can't control what he says. He's offensive. He is politically incorrect. He's filled with hatred. He's angry.

We're getting the first bands of Hurricane Karl now. Prepare for the eyewall.

2. Ever notice how every Bush administration critic is "crazy"?
It's incredible how the entire world is crazy and Republicans are the only sane ones. Thank Jesus we have a strong leader who doesn't have to actually listen to what the people want (I heard that on Limbaugh yesterday).

10. In a totalitarian state
all critics of the establishment are, by definition, mentally ill.

3. They have a pack mentality. Wish they'd use it for
something positive like saving our country from further ruin.

We need to use this against them. They are attacking Dean while letting Bush take a hacksaw to Iraq.

5. There must be a concrete way we can show support for Dean.
In the face of this framing, isn't there some simple way for many of us to create positive attention for Dean? Coordinated small donations? Targeted emails to the "press"? Something else?

7. At this time
it seems that sending contributions is very important. I think that having as many "little people" from the grass roots level sending small donations will get the message across.

6. Expose the GOP control of the broadcast media and we wouldn't have to put
up with this BS 24/7. The GOP gets away with defining EVERY DEmocrat because they control what the public hears from their newsmedia. They get to create the storyline on every Democrat.

Too bad even some people here who claim to be on the left choose to spend their energy attacking those Dems who have been the ones to stick their necks out.

9. Dean and the Dems have to figure out how to use this hand
they've been dealt. For one thing, Dems in the party should be extra careful not to join with Repubs in bashing Dean. Joining in is one surefire way to allow the GOP message to take firm root. They don't have to praise Dean or defend him, but they can challenge the media about what they find so fascinating about the DNC chair. Turn it around and make the media answer for itself.

8. Yea he must be nuts.
He's appealing to the grass roots people for donations rather than corporate lobbyists. If your not corrupt to the core than you must be crazy.

12. Dean all over the media today.
Hannity and Limbaugh spending most of their radio shows today talking about him.

Just occurred to me...is Dean carrying out a strategy? Saying these "outlandish" (read: true) statements so that they'll get plastered all over the place?

I was listening to Hannity running the audio of the quotes and giving his commentary, and I was thinking, "Damn, I agree with every word Dean said there."

I wonder if Dean planned all along for this "Dean is Crazy" media blitz to backfire on the Republicans. I'm watching with popcorn.
