The hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.
Bush at yesterdays press conference:

"Nobody wants to give money to a country that's corrupt, where leaders take money and put it in their pockets."

That's about how I feel about paying Federal income tax.

2. How about the $2.3 trillion "unaccounted for" at the Pentagon?
Or, the $11.5 trillion in untaxed offshore accounts?

Bet you haven't even heard about those in the MSM.:bounce:

Rumsfeld confirmed on September 10, 2001 that some $2.3 trillion in DoD funds could not be accounted for. A long-time defense analyst comments to CBS, “ numbers are pie in the sky. The books are cooked routinely year after year.” Coverage of this rather shocking story is nearly nonexistent given the events of the next day. www.cooperativeresearch.org / item.jsp?item=a630vigilantguardian&timeline=complete_911_timeline

The bigger picture is the $11.5 trillion in assets that are stashed away, untaxed and unaccounted for, by the wealthy in offshore tax shelters. www.csmonitor.com/2005/0425/p17s01-cogn.html

These are the virtually unregulated funds that fuel the global nexis of illicite trade in drugs, arms and terrorism. Even after 9/11. BushCo has done virtually nothing to reign in the purveyors in secret finance, and has considerably expanded the scope of black budgets.

No wonder there isn't enough public money to pay teachers a living wage.

Mark

9. Yes. Remember what Goebbels said about telling Big Lies.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph Goebbels (unknown primary source document)

3. The Democrats I hang out with are always amazed when I say that
taxes are too high for everyone, even Bill Gates - but look at the government we're getting for the money. Put a real president back in and I'll start thinking that 39.6% is okay again. Right now it's too high even if you have half the money in the entire country.

7. cost benefit analysis
I'd pay twice as much if I got something...but since I get essentially nothing, I don't want to pay for it...

We must shock the monkey!
