So Howard Dean sez the the Repubs are a White Christian Party...
....and some folks are upset about that. Okay. Fine. A little odd, but fine. But my question is:

Will it make the Repub White Christians go even crazier than, well, they already are?

I mean, they have to kinda sorta know that they are inundated with millions of Repub White Christians that are spectacularly white, and Unrelentingly Christian (Fristerized, Pink and Fresh!), and heterosexual (missionary style only, PLEASE). So will this new, apparently shocking revelation convince them once and for all that Howard Dean hates them and wishes to messily stomp all over their gloriously bright and wonderous goal of a RePub White Christian America??

Even though he too is a white Christian?

Just not a Repub white Christian?

And therefore, not nearly white and Christian enough?

And he probably doesn't adher to the missionary only thing either?

1. I would bet that when he said That the too was a white Christian that
some of the neo-Christians just burned on the thought.

I was told once that the all good Christians were Republicans. I about puked on that comment.

2. When I first heard Dean said this...
I had this image of hundreds of Republican white Christians all screaming, "How dare he! We certainly are not a white Christian party!" all in unision. :)

3. So they think they are not?
Please, Rush.
Please, Hannity.
Please, cruise ship Bob.

Do a google search on the President signing bills and his supporters behind him. Please count how many white people there are - or have your assistant do that.

Heck, I know you are a journalist, so I'm sure you can't do any sleuthing on your own, so I did it for you.

The poll results are very conclusive!

5. here's what's whacky:
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 11:25 AM by sui generis
the mistaken belief that we're going to win the next election by "uniting" this divided nation.

I don't give a flying crap if we hurt their feelings. They're not going to vote for us not matter what, ever.

Dean does speak for me. We do not need to be hung by our own polite decorum, because quite frankly I'm still pissed off that they stole the election in 2000 and again in 2004 by cheating and that they're a party of liars and thieves and racists and fundamentalist religious oligarchs, and quite frankly if I have to choose between voting for another democratic mush mouth and not voting at all I'll choose not at all because we're going to lose anyway if it's another mush mouth that's running.

7. These days it's BBV that is making the left lose more than the mushmouths.

11. we need landslides, not margin of error
wins. That will indeed overcome BBV, and so we need a candidate that can inspire a landslide.

20. No, it won't overcome BBV they'll just adjust the votes in their favor.
Kerry should have won. Everything on the ground said that more voters were sick of ** than those who loved him. The exit polls, if there had been exit polls would have shown up the discrepancy in the final tallies vs what people were actually voting.:(

6. Howard's not in Vermont anymore
He needs to learn that he is no longer attending pancake breakfasts in Dorset. He needs to be precise in what he says.

The Republicans are the White Fundamentalist Party maybe.

But as a White Christian, they are not my party.

8. I agree that "white fundamentalists" is the better turn of phrase...
...that's the one that should be used. The use of "Christian" needs to be avoided.

9. Dean should have said white right wing fundamentalist christian party
becaue there are lots of Christians in the Democratic party too, but most of us emphasize the Christ in Christians and subscribe to his very liberal teachings.

10. Waste of a 50 state tour and millions of dollars
That's what's stupid about what he said.

"But the last few days, Chairman Dean seems to have drawn battle lines with these folks, first saying “Most Republicans have never made an honest living in their lives” and over the weekend, saying the Republicans are a “white Christian party”. This, following on the heels of, “I hate Republicans”.

Now I’m game for whatever direction the Democratic Party wants to go. Speaking only for myself here, if we want to go all Bullworth on their asses, I’m in. But it’s not going to play in Topeka. So if hating the rich white Christian male party is what we’re going to hang our hopes on, we need to stop dumping money into those red states."

12. That's a really great piece
I guess that's my ongoing problem with Dean is I don't know what he is trying to do. He is trying to reach out to guys with Confederate flags on their trucks and peope against abortion while at the same time saying Republicans don't work and using "White Christian" as some sort of pejorative. How do you do both?

17. Mine too
First, Lakoff doesn't get it if he thinks rural Republican voters are ever going to put economics over values. They won't. They don't expect to get wealthy, they do expect to go to heaven, or at least take pride in their faith and morality. Second, in rural America, rich and poor live side by side, send their kids to the same schools, help each other equally. You're just as likely to have the poor guy saving the rich guys house in a flood as the reverse. In order to appeal to both of those voters, a community oriented, working together message is necessary. Dean's recent comments prove he doesn't get it, despite having just visited these states. So I don't know where that leaves us, except with a party chair who puts making red meat comments over supporting our agenda.

13. GO HOWARD, GO!
What's the matter around here???

Have be become afraid of the TRUTH?

We are not going to convert these "people," and compared to their messages of hate and exclusion, these punches from Dean WERE FUCKING MARSHMALLOWS.

I say a roll of quarters for each fist, and a quick one-two. Figuratively speaking.

The Republican Party is made up primarily of "White Christians". So is the KKK.

18. I imagine the Democratic Party is too
Most of the country is White Christians.

Why give it a negative connotation unless we want to lose the midwest along with the South?

19. He should refer to them as "Christian Masculinicists"
Like this guy:

"a Christian without a Pit Bull Attitude is a Poodle Christian"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=3811461&mesg_id=3811461

It sums them up better - than to just say they are White Christians.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all those anti-abortion Republicans white, and how much do you want to bet they're all Christian too?
