stop the hatchet jobs!! lets see some solidarity
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 11:59 PM by dudeness
as I face a third term of conservative government (australia)..I am increasingly appalled and upset by the lack of unity amongst the different factions of my party (australian labor party)..the same is happening here..if I have to give ground on some issues, I will, to ensure a victory at the next election we have to stand together or we lose again..end of rant..

1. That definitely depends on the issues
How much ground do you give before they win even if you win?

3. Well let's put it this way
by the time you've given so much that you're standing in the middle of the road with a 10-ton truck barelling towards you... you've given too much ;)

Stand in the middle of the road- get run over.

How many times are we going to let the DLC do this to us?

8. thanks for your reply
I belong to the socialist left of the ALP..we have drawn the line in the sand on many important issues ..the war..health..education..but as my comrade below points out do not allow your preselection to turn into a beauty contest..vigourous debate on issues not personalities is our life blood..

7. agree.. it does depend on the issues
however, from my experience it is only varying degrees of difference that occur on the left that create the most dissention..

2. Total agreement
Dividing us is their best chance for victory.

Solidarity is especially hard for us because we are made up of many diverse voices.

I only have one limitation to compromise and, I get to quote the Indigo Girls:

"I won’t stop short for common ground
that vilifies the trodden down."

Thank you!

4. The joys of a presidential system.....
......thank your lucky stars that we don't have a 'beauty contest' like this between Crean and Howard.

You're right though. There's been a lot of destructive criticism around here lately.

From what I've seen some Dem's are going to be choosing between a 'fascist, neo-con warmonger' and Bush in '04.

5. Agree!!!
It is starting to look like Freeperville around here. Did we really internalize all the ugliness that Repugs have been dishing out all these years? Now we are behaving almost the same way.

Please...support and promote your candidate. Save the trashing and ugliness for the Republican party. Sure would be a shame if we reached November with a severely weakened candidate from attacks from the Right and the Left.
That is just dumb.

6. Joy and happiness will return once we know who the nomineee is.
Happens every four years. On both sides of the aisle.

9. I think we need to root out the trojan horses.
With the DLC pandering to purely the center and Lieberman saying Democrats don't deserve a nomination if they are liberal, we need discussion and debate, in Amerca.

Fuck the electoral system if the left is ruled out. I will give the Democrats this election and the mid-terms, but if Liberal continues to be denounced and portrayed as a bad thing, well fuck them.
