Ex-CC CEO in, Democracy Radio out with Ed Schultz show ownership
It will be intresting to see what direction the Ed Schultz show goes without Democracy Now backing and a ex-CEO of Clear Channel in. Ed does have decade long history with Clear Channel with his old regional show on KFGO-AM 790 out of Fargo.

Randy Michaels' Radioactive Buys Stake In
Ed Schultz Show

Michaels — formerly CEO of Clear Channel Radio and now President of Radioactive — purchases Democracy Radio's share of the syndicated liberal talker's program that is distributed and sold nationally by Jones Radio Network. The show was launched in January 2004 by Democracy Radio principles Tom Athans and Paul Fiddick to "combat the right-wing dominance of talk radio." The program now airs on a reported 95 stations nationwide from 3-6pm ET daily."

1. Randy Michaels...
Is a pig. I wonder if this has anything to do with Ed's recent slamming of Dean? Likely.

5. Do you characterize him that way,...
,...in connection with criticism of Dean?

That seems so weird to me.

7. Look.
Ed is now in bed with the guy who made CC into the pile 'o crap that it is today. Never has a bigger right-wing slug left a mucus trail on the earth. Michaels is now Ed's meal ticket.

You are known by the people with whom you associate. I see no coincidence in the juxtaposition of Ed's Dean slamming and this deal being announced.

10. Ah. Okay. I don't listen to Ed and haven't heard any impressive,...
,...reports about him.

I just didn't know what you were talking about. Please, don't get too upset at my ignorance. I couldn't possibly understand what you meant by your post 'cause,...well,...I'm not an all-knowing, all-seeing, all-brilliant human being.

So, this is basically a "buh-bye" to supposed liberal radio with that bunch.

11. No, I wasn't slamming you.
I just wanted to make my point clear. No harm, no foul.

4. What does this mean? I haven't a clue.

The photo above is from when he was a morning show host in Dallas, it's actually an old pic... But it captures him perfectly!!!

8. I cant help but wonder...
if the right wing nut bought the stake because Ed was actually beginning to turn the repugs around. It would make sense to me. Buy his show, skew his message.

9. That is what I was thinking
that they want a safety valve on Ed. The GOP knows how much they need the middle. They are SCARED. This shows that outreach to the middle in an Ed-like way makes an impact. If Ed was not reaching the middle, this would not have happened.

What Ed needs to do is to keep his same style and not cave in, though that is a risk. Otherwise he will be marginlized like Alan Colmes pretty quickly (because News Corp/Fox News Radio distributes his radio show).

What this means for Demoracy Radio is to go searching for an replacement in case Ed compromises because of ownership reasons. I know he has complete editorial control of his show, so he needs to continue to use that.

Vern, Homey, Tank, Wendy, etc... all have to help keep Ed in line.
