What scares Karl Rove?

On the Clark website, amongst the grassroot movements, there's a group being organized known as the "Republicans for Clark." That's right, republicans are now actively campaigning against Bush and for Clark. Woohoo! This is our version of the Reagan democrats! The Clark republicans!

The Reagan democrats ushered in a new era, a sea change, the beginning of the conservative and neo-conservative ascendency as the new mainstream. The Clark republicans can reverse that, and not just win us the whitehouse, but shift the entire mainstream spectrum back to the center left. If Clark goes up against Bush, republicans are voting democratic!!!!! We have here the potential to change the entire political spectrum, just as the Reagen democrats did.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no "Republicans for Dean" or "Democrats for Bush" grassroots organization being formed. I bet Karl Rove is praying that we nominate anyone other than Clark.

Edit: correction, I just found another post saying there are Republicans for Dean. Woohoo!

Why do you want Dean to form a Republican Center party, or Clark to do so, just because there's "Republicans for Dean" and "Republicans for Clark"? You want to kick our two strongest candidates out of the party???

The point is that we want the Republican vote...and we want republicans to BECOME democrats. The first step is to get them to vote democratic. Do you remember the Reagan democrats? That's how neo-conservatism started, and the entire American middle shifted rightward in attitude, not just voting patterns. With Clark Republicans and Dean Republicans, we can start the tide of of neo-liberalism, and shift the middle back left.

I think Clark is the right guy for th job, and if Dean and Clark both start Republican parties, I'll be voting republican. I've voted republican before, I've voted Green before, and I've voted democratic 90 percent of the time. If Clark and Dean both start republican parties, I'll be voting republican even though I'm a registered democrat.

Neither Dean nor Clark are switching their loyalties, but some republicans seem to be disgusted with the royal chimpster and are looking for someone to save their party by helping to get rid of Bush.

Half the GOP I know like all the stuff the Dem party put in the gov. I do not know any people with millions but the GOP is not the GOP that is in Washington now. We are dealing with the Right Wing of the party. This party in power is so far off from the party of Ike that it seems like another party.We also have to put up with the GOP that took over the Dem party of the South. Now every one of you know what that is and why Powell and Rice are there. Bush is just not a real Rep but from this voting block of those right wing nuts that is running out gov. GOP is starting to see that, I think.

11. Please pay attention to how America votes before you bash

Most of George W. Bush's policies were never popular. People vote with "feeling" not on the issues. You can sell fear, patriotism, racism, Morning in America, tax cuts, integrity or just a likeable candidate and get the votes. Doesn't mean that issue for issue the people agree even if they're voting for you. If they do agree with the positions, they may well not have looked deeply into the repercussions and side effects of those policies. A lot of people who care enough to vote are still not terribly interested in politics.

Many people who are registered and vote Republican are not strong supporters of neoconservative policy. The Republicans have pulled the country right as much on superior marketing than any issue. That point was hammered home to me years ago when both Alfonse D'Amato and Mario Cuomo won big victories in the same election in my state. How in the world did the same exact voters pull the lever for both of those men in the same election? Obviously the liberal/conservative question was not uppermost in most voters minds when they did. If we are to move the center back to the left, even a little, we have to do some marketing of our own and we need the Republicans for Clark or Dean or Kerry or Edwards in order to do it. One of the reasons that I'm supporting Clark is that I think he can do a great job of that, partly because of his resume and partly because his of his views.

17. Exposure and an uncontrolled Press

Remember, Fatboy Karl was one of Nixon's plumbers- dirty trick's are his forte. But it all fell apart when two reporters relentlessly persued the truth about Watergate- Exposure sent several of his cohorts to prison.

Karl knows as long as he keeps the Press bottled up, he can do anything he wants.
