10. Well, considering that Edwards
decided to go to the press and shit on Dean for his comments I can't back him. My thing here is that Dems keep trying to say that Dean is not speaking for all the Dems. That right there is the problem. If the Dems want to win fucking elections(if that's even possible anymore) they better get off their asses and start screaming along with Dean. They all want to be seen as civilized and moderate and reasonable. Sorry but the time of being reasonable is long past. While we are sitting here shining seats with our asses people are dying because of the faliures of the Bush administration. People are out of work, without health care, and if most of the middle/lower-middle class is like me their standard of living has decreased heavily in the last 5 years. If Kerry and Edwards want to kick up some dust and raise a stink I'm all for it but if they are going to bash a fellow Dem for, finally speaking the plain truth in the press, then they need to get the fuck out of the way. To be honest I was suprised that Kerry is making a stink about the DSM, I'll back him on that one for sure.....

Kerry hasn't said anything on the subject of Dean.
Neither has Clark.
Neither has Kennedy... or Boxer... or Reid.

Most haven't.

30. No, Edwards did not go to the press to bash Dean.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 08:49 PM by Radical Activist
He was asked a question at an unrelated even by a reporter who was trying to pick a fight. Don't spin that.

I would expect Dems to back Dean when he speaks the truth, but the idea that a lot of Republican voters have never worked a day in their life is not a truthful statement. If Dean wants support he needs to stop making dumb ass statements that alienate millions of people and start framing the debate in a useful way that wins us votes.

Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 08:28 PM by billbuckhead
Then I'm proud to be there. Even Zell Miller never pandered to the ConFlag crowd.

(CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean sparked criticism from his rivals Saturday after invoking the Confederate flag in an outline of his election strategy.

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks," the former Vermont governor said in an interview published Saturday in the Des Moines Register. "We can't beat George Bush unless we appeal to a broad cross-section of Democrats."
-------------snip------------------------------

Kerry used his statement to illustrate his views on gun control and his support of the NAACP.

"Howard Dean is justifying his pandering to the NRA by saying his opposition to an assault weapons ban allows him to pander to lovers of the Confederate flag," Kerry said in his statement. "It is simply unconscionable for Howard Dean to embrace the most racially divisive symbol in America. I would rather be the candidate of the NAACP than the NRA."

It was a poor choice to have a 2004 Presidential candidate as DNC spokesperson

19. No he was probably right
but just because some democrats disagree with his choice of words, or firey rhetoric, doesnt mean that the belong on some hall of shame. A primary difference between 'us' and 'them' is that we have room for difference of opinion. Sure, maybe they went against Dean a little to harshly and publically, but that is their right, and as democrats, we should not fault them so toughly... .know what I mean?

Don't need a hall of shame, but I am getting tired of most Dems sitting on their hands... I mean where is the outrage?

--On edit-- Also if they have a problem with what Dean is saying maybe they could take it up in private instead of giving the RW media more quotes they can use against us.

I'm saying Dean got slammed for telling the truth if sticking with the guy who is telling the truth is walking in lock step then count me in.
Also I don't think he's Jesus, as a matter of fact he's a politican which means he's got 2 strikes against him already in my book. But if he's going to scream to the high heavens till the truth comes out then more power to him...

Not slammed.

We're allowed to do that you know. We're Democrats. Same would go for Kerry or Clark or anyone else. Reid and Warner have had some critical things to say about Kerry. I may wildly disagree with them. But I wouldn't be starting a hall of shame. They didn't bash. They didn't slam. They criticized. And that's all that's happened to Dean.

A while back on her show she said one of the things wrong with democrats is how they organized their message. Everyone has one and they have a hard time giving up ground to a particular point to have the same message everyone tuned. We are never going to win if we don't speak with one voice on occasion or three.

13. I've been reading....
... thread after thread with lame point after lame point. The fact is lots of people just don't like Dean, and that's fine.

But a lot more folks are just Thick as a Brick.

They talk about the factual nature or lack thereof of the statement. They go on and on about who it might offend. Basically, they are absolutely, irredeemable clueless.

Dean is getting media time. He is putting the Repugs on the defensive. All of you naysayers tell me who else is getting both of those things nowadays. All of you one-inch thinkers who think that this is about making factual statements and those who think that the Repugs bitching about Dean on the airwaves is bad for Dems, well, you frankly don't get it do you. There's nothing anyone can do about that, except you :) Maybe.

Dems distance themselves from Dean

Why Democrats Worry About Howard Dean

The imminent demise of Howard Dean

The Dean factor: Screaming for Howard

Edwards Angry With Howard Dean

Howard Dean: Good for the left; Good for Republicans

And this is he gets bashed for: Uncalled for? I think so.

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean on Wednesday defended his recent harsh criticism of Republicans, including his observation that they are "pretty much a white, Christian party."

Dean noted that he, too, is a white Christian. But he said the GOP is too narrow in its scope and the Democratic Party is far more diverse.

While even prominent Democrats in recent days have distanced themselves from some of his comments, the outspoken Dean, appearing on NBC"s "Today" show, said criticism of him is meant by Republicans to divert attention from the country's problems and make him the issue instead.

Dean told a forum of journalists and minority leaders Monday that Republicans are "not very friendly to different kinds of people, they are a pretty monolithic party … it's pretty much a white, Christian party."

Challenged on that during the NBC interview, Dean said "unfortunately, by and large it is. And they have the agenda of the conservative Christians."

"This is a diversion from the issues that really matter: Social Security, and adequate job opportunity, strong public schools, a strong defense,"

32. I say we start a massive email campaign to those dissing Dean
My biggest complaint about Dems is that they publicly bash each other.
Whether they agree with Dean or not, they need to keep their mouths shut!

You never hear the republiecans bash each other, why do we?

Anybody ready to give the dems a lesson with me?

We need a list of who spoke out against Dean. And let them know it's time to support each other, no matter what.
If they have a problem with Dean, they can send him an email, but keep it out of the press!!!

These are the ones I know of:

Edwards
Biden
Pelosi (?)

who else???

34. Message discipline among Dems sucks
These folks have to learn to just use the questions they are asked by journalists as opportunities to attack Republicans or promote Democrats or the Democratic agenda. If they are asked a question where they can not come up with an answer that does that, just ignore the question and say whatever you want. But just don't say anything that hurts us, period.
