Has anybody else noticed a reduction in RW e-mail?
Seems like a lot of my red, red friends, relatives and miscellaneous acquaintances have been pretty quiet lately....

2. no
I tend to do a reply all and embarrass them in front of all the people they sent that crap to. They stopped including me in their crapfest a couple years ago.

:)

5. Yes. "Reply to all" gets you off their list REAL quick,
and sometimes with screams of outraged protest!!! They fire back, "Who the hell are you to disagree with us!?" They have NEVER even attempted to disprove the factual stuff in my replies - of course because they can't.

Evidently I was the only liberal in the groups of addressees, and some of these neocons reacted to my replies like a vampire thrown into the direct sunlight! However, the two who continue to send me stuff have switched to either neocon "humor", i.e., sexist, dumb blonde jokes, or an occasional news piece showing a couple of soldiers giving candy to a couple of Iraqi kids, with some insanely delusional comment about this is really what war is like for Iraqi kids!

18. I did a reply all
once to the person who had sent me rubbish, as well as to the people on the group that included the person who had got it and forwarded it to me
(does that make sense? 2 iterations of reply all); I got back a really nasty reply from the 2nd iteration sender, saying who was I, they didn't even know me, it was only meant to be fun among their circle of friends etc. and that they were ignoring me. So I did another reply all and pointed out that by replying they were most certainly not ignoring me. I also got a reply on the same email from one of their circle who siad essentially, goos job, I wish they wouldn't forward that stuff to me, but they're friends, so I try to overlook it.

I can think of pictures one could reply all to and say, mmm candy, bet this kid really enjoyed candy...

:hi:

4. Now that you mention it,
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 05:04 AM by tenshi816
yes I have. I used to get several e-mails each day from my favorite cousin and stepmother, all RW or fundie BS (or a combination of the two). Now...nothing at all.

I warned them. I did. The day before the election, my cousin sent an e-mail to everyone in her address book reminding us to be sure and "vote for President Bush's re-election because he's a good Christian and he loves America". I sent a lengthy message to her in reply explicitly stating exactly why I believe her beloved president is in fact not a good Christian nor an "America lover" and why I was not going to vote for him. She responded by saying that we "just don't get all the news here in England" and that I didn't know enough about Bush to say what I did because I don't live in the US. :wtf:

The pro-Repub e-mails continued to pour in until Bush started hammering in earnest on Social Security (which I warned my family about last summer, so they can't say they didn't expect it). My family is from Georgia, and quite a few of them depend on SS being intact for the future and don't want it fucked with, including my cousin (she's a dog breeder who's not doing so well with it these days - but who has thus far failed to make the connection between an economy that's doing badly and people being willing to shell out between $500-$1,000 for a puppy).

I don't wish bad things to happen to anyone in my family, but maybe they needed a kick in the pants to wake up. I hadn't made the connection between doubts among the faithful and the drop in RW junk mail, but you've made a good point.

At any rate, I'm damn glad my inbox is no longer being cluttered up by poorly written essays praising the Boy King and demonizing the Democratic Party.

and some of my family live in Texas. On a recent health related trip to Dallas, not one time did they bring up shrub. This is a first. They seemed subdued. My brother lives in London and we console each other.

7. My dad isn't as RW or fundie as my stepmother
In fact, Dad's very intelligent but he's also one of those types who goes along with whatever everyone else around him does. "Bush is a good guy? Oh, sure, OK, if you say so, I'll vote for him."

BUT - the last time I spoke to him on the phone, he actually asked me if I could send him some links to websites that could fill him in on the Bush family history and the neo-cons, as well as asking what I thought about the Shrub's Social Security "plan". I was completely shocked. It was funny, too, because he was practically whispering when he asked me - I don't think he wanted my stepmother to know.

I also wonder if part of the reason my stepmom has stopped sending RW emails to me is the fact that she has two grandchildren, aged 21 and 22, neither in college and both working at crap jobs, who would both be ripe for the picking if there's a draft.

People are finally starting to pull their heads out of their asses and look around, startled at what's been going on when they weren't paying attention.

Your brother, like me, is many miles away, but unfortunately, whatever this administration does affects not just America, but the entire world.

Where in GA are you?

11. Ooh, thanks, I'll have to read that
Yeah, stepmom's grandchildren - the girl is tougher than the boy and her parents had to talk her out of joining the army when she was 18, so I know they'll be upset if their Chimperor causes the draft to be reinstated after they followed their pastor's instructions to vote for the little bastard in the first place.

I grew up in Decatur and went to high school in Gwinnett County, but moved to Atlanta as soon as possible thereafter and pretty much remained there until moving to Britain. Do you ever post in the Georgia forum? There were a few of us in there a couple of weeks ago who discovered we had lived only a few streets apart at various times in our lives.

9. The freepers/neo-cons/RW morans have been quiet, too
other than trying to blame Clinton and the Clenis for everything. When pressed to talk about Bush* and the past few years, they get quiet, mumble a lot, turn to the TV and say, "How about that team? Go, team!"

10. No, But It Has Changed Somewhat
Before the election, it was "Bush is great, Bush is our king, Every day with get on our knees and thank the Good Lord that we have Bush as our glorious president to fight evil forever and ever amen."

Occasionally, there would be the obligatory "Bush is the only guy who is man enough to stand up and hold Saddam accountable for flying those planes into our buildings and gassing his own people in rape rooms!"

Now, the stuff I get is more like, "This doctor performed a surgery on a baby in the womb, and the baby grabbed his finger, proving that tiny fetuses don't want to die and that killing them is murder!!!one111!!!"

OR

"Terri Schiavo is not in a vegative state. When the doctors asked if she wanted to live or die, she told them clear as a bell, 'I feel that under the circumstances it would be extremely unjust to kill me, as I am clearly quite articulate and only slightly disabled. Please bring me some Jello.' But her evil husband and the liberals just want her dead because they work for Satan."

OR

"God wanted the Ten Commandments in our schools. When you don't put Ten Commandments in the schools, God makes school shootings happen. God wanted the Ten Commandments in courtrooms. When you don't put Ten Commandments in courtrooms, God lets judges get gunned down. Our founding fathers wanted the Ten Commandments in schools and courtrooms too. Freedom of religion means that you are free to worship the Christian God, and that's all. Anyone who disagrees is on of Satan's minions and probably is a terrorist too."

Satanic judges before they sent her off to Auschwitz to be killed by Hillary Clinton.

volume (and the VOLUME) has been lower lately. Maybe they're feeling a little like sheepish sheeple.
