An interesting Bev Harris post on Free Republic

Had the Rossi litigation team filed a request for the King County memory cards (we suggested strongly to the Rossi team that they avail themselves of this option), I believe the litigation would have come out differently(depending on what was found). The reason the judge tossed the case out was that he said they had not proved fraud.

The King County memory cards were Rossi's best shot at proving fraud (if it existed, and I suspect that it did, since King County has now destroyed one of its logs and refused to provide the others to us).

Back to Leon County: Black Box Voting and the documentary film crew obtained copies of the "poll tapes" at the testing. These are voting machine reports. They conclusively document that the Leon County system was hacked during the testing. The poll tapes show incontrovertably that the memory card conned the voting machine into printing the wrong results without any error messages and without the problem showing up on any of the logs.

I have scanned the tapes, and we will post them along with the technical report.

I remember right when Bev was starting and she was posting shit everywhere about some new, explosive proof that she was going to unveil, but needed money and media support. She contacted Bart and Bart said "just show the public the proof and let the public decide - don't ask for money or media". She of course never wrote him back and a lot of people got real down on ol' Bart.

It has happened before and I'm sure it will happen in the future, but Bart was right on the money.

1) No matter what one thinks of voter fraud, it is impossible to believe that ALL right wingers are in on it. Even assuming a massive conspiracy, the powers that be would never trust freepers with the truth. If they think that Democrats might try to hack machines, they will join our call for a voter verified paper trail. The more voices, the better.

I remember back a long time ago when anyone would try to point this out (including myself), they'd get shouted down and called trolls by the legions of Bev worshippers she used to have here. Hell, for awhile DU and BBV almost seemed one and the same. How anyone bought her BS is almost a mystery to me. I suppose some wanted to believe so badly, they'd even accept her ridiculous claims of having undercovered the equivalent of the Pentagon Papers which would bring down a President. Bev was even peddling the notion that she might have to go into hiding because the Republicans knew she was getting too close and might off her at any moment. It was just so obvious she was a self promoting bullshit artist that I can't quite grasp how so many people couldn't see it.

I do think it was pretty clear if you looked closely at her website and read her posts that she was not going to be the one who blew this all wide open, but I just put it down to narcissistic self-delusion.

She was, to some extent, effective at getting the message out, and for that she deserves a lot of credit. What always irritated me about her was that she would come on here, post something about how big developments were afoot but she couldn't say anything about it but whoooo doggie, would the shit hit the fan and soon...and then nothing. Also highly irritating was the tone she adopted on the BBV website, which was so smug, breezy, and massively unprofessional as to make my teeth hurt whenever I visited. And this is before we get to the paranoid postings about RW operatives sabotaging her.

It is important to remember, though, that even during Bev's heyday BBV was a collective effort. There were large numbers of people working with Bev Harris on this--knowledgable, credible, and sincere people who were dedicated to the cause because they understood how important it was. That was why I didn't say more about my doubts about Bev. It seemed to me like she had actually catalyzed something that could turn out to be really valuable--and in the end it may turn out that that was actually true. But, no, at this point, I would not advise anyone to give her a dime. Course, the Freepers never take my advice, now do they.

Fraud or not, she did keep the BBV issue alive and well tended on DU and other boards. She compiled much valuable data which I have saved and use for reference. She DID manage to appear in some Media outlets publicly raising the question about the safety of our electoral process. The fact that she took money from people under false pretenses is SO MUCH SMALLER an issue that the safety of our elections that I'm willing to subordinate my petty grievance.

I hope she is successful in getting money from FR or any other conservatives because if she does manage to get money from them, that means she has been successful at getting republicans to question and worry about the validity and safety of our elections.
The MORE voices that are screaming about this MAJOR issue the better, because it sure looks like our ELECTED representatives in the Democratic Party don't care.
