Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (Conn.), one of Dean's opponents in the 2004 Democratic presidential primaries, said the comment was "way over the top" and said he will ask Dean to explain himself during a previously scheduled meeting with Senate Democrats today. "I'm sure I won't be the only one," Lieberman said.

Nick Coleman is the host of Air America Minnesota, 7-9am weekdays, and spoke wondrously and fearlessly about the Howard Dean attack this morning. He is a "Classic Liberal" according to Mn Gov Pawlenty. Some of Nick's comments follow, in my attempt at paraphrasing:

Dean is right on target in taking on the snake handling right wing 'Christians' who control the direction this country is taking. Ann Coulter can say Democrats should be arrested or executed but her language is never called extreme. When Howard Dean takes on the wingnuts it's a media storm.

Some of the Dem leaders play patty-cake with the wingnuts and this is why Democrats lose. They need to stay and fight when the (media) light shines on them and not run away or play patty-cake.

Moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans are going to have to get up and get outraged before too long and take the country back in the right direction.
