Just read
on aol head liner that polls show ex New York mayor Guliano(spelling) would beat Hillary for her Senate seat and 2/3 of New Yorkers want him back as Mayor or in some form of political service and says that term limits is why he is out of service now.

Tell me was not New Yorkers fed up with this man and about to ditch him anyway? Has this all been forgotten? Did 911 change what this man was or how they felt about him before 911. It seems 911 is the problem or the solution to everything in this country now.

1. He's still riding a 911 high ...
But, of course, only liberals would use 911 for political gain.

2. Some, but...
he was back up to his old tricks withing 4 days (trying to get his term extended, etc.). A lot of Bloomberg's budget problems stem from an assortment of Rudy's giveaways and accounting gimmicks.

In a real race, people would be reminded of those, and Rudy wouldn't be able to cruise on the 72-odd hours that his star shined brightest.

3. "He's a C+ mayor who became an A+ myth"
At least that's the way Jack Newfield described him in his book The Full Rudy.

People forget how much of a laughable, boorish ass he was in the last 2 years of his term before 9/11. While he certainly handled the tragedy of that day well -- much better than Potato-head Pataki and AWOL -- it is hardly cause to forget all of the polarizing shit he did as mayor, not to mention how incredibly outrageous he was in his personal life (like telling his wife he wanted a divorce by holding a press conference, and cavorting with his mistress at Gracie Mansion while his kids were around).

4. I'd love to know....
how much knowledge he had of the poisonous air in New York after 911 and did he help Bush keep it quiet? Have you noticed he's not expressed any outrage over this coverup?

5. I know Guliani hasn't raised any interest in running for Senate.
But don't the New Yorkers remember he dropped out of the race because he found out her had prostate cancer?

6. Guiliani was a TERRIBLE campaigner. Whereas, Schu & Hil are GREAT
campaigners.

I suspect that the only time Rudy would be ahead in any poll is when he isn't actually campaigning against Hil or Schu. Once they started campaigning against each other, I'd be very surprised if he were ahead.

Rudy acts like a guy who only cares about NYC. During the campaign he routinely canceled events outside of NYC and then was photographed attending Yankees games. I think it would be very hard for him to shake that memory, and I don't hink 9/11 does much to break that perception.
