Which parts of the government(state and fed) do you trust ?

Examples:
1. Do you trust child services if they said they had to take your kid for the benefit of the kid? Do you trust them to take other people's kids away and do what is best for them?
2. Do you trust the courts?
3. do you trust the goverment with your money
4. Do you think they have your best interests in mind
5. Do you believe the laws they make are good for you and make your life better and the lives of others?

And so on.

And within the title of thread - which parts/depts/states/etc of your government do you trust?

NOW - why am I asking this and asking it in the way I did? A fair enough question which I will strive to answer:
Some stories of late (on both du and local paper and news sites) got me to thinking about some things. An example would be something I saw in the paper the other day about violent crime going down, including murders. Now who gets 'credit' for that? bush? the states? the government in general? people being better people? and so on down the line.
Another story was about the kid that was taken away from parents because they refused further treatment for cancer. Kid was put into foster care. Some thought this was a good idea, others bad. Ok, I am glad we have differing views to discuss. But again I started thinking - do we trust government and courts that much (and my own take on it - ok, so the government forces treatment, but that was no reason to put kid in foster care. Put kid in hospital, let parents hang out for treatments, send kid home with folks when done. The kid is already in enough mental pain without being torn from parents, no need to add to it).

So it all lead to this thread (and many other stories). The government is made up of people like us, people who have jobs to go to each day. If something bad happens from such people, whose fault is it? I suppose that depends on what level of government they are and other factors. But do we blame one lead person, a cabinet and group of people, the person who did the poor job, everyone? And out of that whole mess who in government do you trust?

2. State Government is good....

They aren't nearly as corrupt as the folks in Federal Government.
State Senators and State Reps.

1. Balance budgets
2. Actually have to obey the law
3. have to answer to the constituency
4. Have allot more power then you would think
5. are allot more honorable

Personally if I were to run for office it would be state level hands down.

As far as members, if there a Democrat, not named Joe lieberman, then there great and trustworthy.

5. On Nov 2, we had a house election...

It was a biter campaign, but my cat Java (D) beat out my dog Duffy (R), the Vampire Slayer, by 1 vote.

We had a 100% voter turnout.

We had all the drama, lawyers, recounts and so on, but Java (D) won.

I trust Java, so I can say I trust my Hyper-local gov.

7. In general, I've lost most of my trust in the federal government

It's infected with the sickness of greed. Corporatism runs the show in Congress. Money dominates, and the people are losing out.

This Republic is a sick republic if one calls such a kleptocracy a republic. It is dying at its current rate.

I favor a more decentralized form of government where decisions are made closer to the people. I favor reviving the Articles of Confederation, fixing up its problem areas and carrying over the Bill of Rights from the US Federal Constitution, and reinstituting it, and I favor instituting a taxpayer subsidized election system as well.

On top of that, I would institute IRV (instant run-off voting), and I'd set up a general assembly built on proportional representation much like the Swiss Confederation's Assembly.

Concentrated decision-making power is dangerous. It should be in the hands of the people, not the few.

10. SSA so far as

they don't get their filthy hands on it, but figure they will sooner than later. Beyond that none. Even the town (1200 people total) government has gone to hell these days with greed and power.
