Did Sensenbrenner's actions amount to "obstruction of justice"?
He violated the rules to unilaterally shut down a hearing.

The hearing was for the purpose of recording sworn witness testimony concerning abuses of the unpatriotic act, an act which repeals many of our constitutionally secured civil liberties.

Don't his actions amount to an obstruction of justice?

They certainly amount to a vicious attack on the institution of democracy and to an egregious abuse of power. However, in intentionally preventing sworn witness testimony concerning abuses related to the unpatriotic act, I assert that his actions do amount to an obstruction of justice.

I also assert that his resignation should be immediately demanded!!!

4. At the minimum he should be sanctioned....
There was no exscuse for his behavior. And even though detainee abuse is not covered under the patriot act, it does have everything to do with the rules, as evidenced by the baybee memo. Apparently this evidence is disturbing for them and thus not permissable....

7. The witnesses included those detained HERE via the unpatriotic act.
Sensenbrenner falsely asserted that the witnesses ONLY had to do with Gitmo. He lied.

6. I've suffered under Sensenbrenner's representation....
..... ever since he was my state assemblyman in the late 1960's. I've met him several times. He's a jerk and the best example of a corrupt career politician. That said, nah... it was a lot of things but not obstruction of justice.

By the way, does anyone know what the 'F' stands for? {I know I'm going to regret serving that one up on a silver platter}

9. i think a lot of the patriot act is unconstitutional
but since the supreme court majority is corrupt and doesnt rule on "law" but ideology I suppose it will just stand until the congress undoes it.

moving target that is.
The Little Hitler's helper act didn't play at all well with me. (Surprise, surprise)
I'm glad it played several times, giving lots of opportunity for attitudes to be hardened and the anger level to climax at the flippant, offhand treatment of professional equals. This, of course, illustrates, to me, the case for inside the GOP general knowledge and attitudes that the opposition party should be treated like the vanquished fools the leadership insists (internally) they actually are.

Such disdain has to be the stupidest move of a long history of stupidity or a shrewdly calculated move in a bigger war-impatiently tweaking the nose of the loyal opposition before a national audience.
Something has to bust wide open.

The purpose of the hearing was legislative, not judicial.

Mr. Sensenbrenner's conduct was inexcusable, but it didn't obstruct justice.

Having said that, it certainly isn't out of line to call for his resignation.
