Remember the 2 gay guys who took in all those poor handicapped and
unwanted kids and the state (I believe Florida) was trying to take them away from them? I believe the story was even televised. Anyway, I need a link or an article to about this to show someone. We were discussing gays and for some reason this person originally thought the state was right in trying to take these kids away.

I want to educate this person. Can someone here please help? Thanks.

1. there was a situation not unlike that in Indiana about 3 years ago
removed a child - put back to former foster family - then comes out that foster dad who got the story into the media had been molesting the girl. Just wanted her back to prevent his deeds from leaking out. But he used the "gay adoption - bad" message to get the girl back. It may not be the story that you are thinking about - but it probably highlights some of the same issues.

3. Yikes, didn't know about that one. What a truly despicable individual
and what a bunch in corrupt incompetents running the child protective services.

No, these guys took in about ten kids. Ten kids no one wanted. They were truly great parents and these kids adored them. The guys wanted to adopt these children and that's when the state stuck its nose into things and were attempting to take them away. I swear it was in Florida but then again maybe that's because I expect all truly ignorant and disgustingly screwed up events to either have occured, is occurring, or will occur in Florida.

8. here
Gay Bashing Pedophiles

Earl “Butch” Kimmerling, a Republican homophobe made a name for himself through his anti-gay activism. In 2000, the Indiana school bus driver successfully led the fight to prevent a gay couple from adopting an eight-year old girl. He and his wife, who over the years housed almost 50 foster children for the state of Indiana, went on to adopt the girl themselves. Kimmerling, the family values crusader who argued that gay couples could never provide the same healthy environment that heterosexuals could, is now serving a 40-year prison sentence for molesting the eight-year old girl.

5. While we are on the topic, does anyone have a link to a study I heard
about on Air America a few weeks back -- that children of lesbian families are psychologically healthier and academically more advanced that those of heterosexual families?

The most heartbreaking snippet from "Lethimstay.com" --

That year, 1995, Ginger died at home. She was just 6 years old. Frank and Tracy were about the same age, and had loved Ginger like the sister she was. Even though she had been very sick for quite a long time, her death still devastated the entire family. When Frank realized that he wouldn't see Ginger again, he asked Steve if he could still dream about her. Steve said, "Yes."

In a single yes from gay dad, Steve, we witness the love we all wish that we could give and receive.

6. That's it. Don't know where I got the whacky idea that it was something
like ten kids, but that's not an issue.

Thanks a bunch!

(This is one of the blessings of this place. Because of the people here we all have access to any information we may want or need. Does it get any better than that?)

9. The cruelty in this case is the message ...
that neither gay adults nor HIV positive children are worthy of legal families. It's beyond disgrace.
