Headsup: STOP H.R. 1316, the "Make Congress More Corrupt" Bill

I've posted info and text on this blatantly crooked bill in GD-P, along with a link to a site that facilitates emailing Representatives to urge them to oppose it. Here's the thread:

Please come and join the discussion. You won't BELIEVE the brazen provisions of this bill - and those are the ones that are obvious even to a non-legislative maven. I'm hoping some mavens take a closer look at this thing, because I have a suspicion that some of the provisions are even worse than they look. It would obviously open the door to all kinds of corrupt politics that is a bit inconvenient now - we need to lay it all out into clear talking points and publicize it.

This is an important one! Do we really want a whole Congress full of little DeLays, free of ethics legal restraints, plus corporations and labor unions putting the squeeze on their people to campaign for the boss's favorite candidates or laws?

4. Get a load of the provision where political parties can use non-federal

funds for sample ballots and voter registration.

And the sky's the limit for the money coming in. Please look at the provisions of this bill in the main thread. Like the way Sensenbrenner stormed off in the middle of a bipartisan hearing, these guys clearly thing they can have ANYTHING with no accountability whatsoever. They're not even PRETENDING to support democracy now.

This bill MUST be defeated. No "compromises."

this thing in DETAIL. It may even be retroactive in places, to get DeLay off the hook - we won't know till it's gone over very, very carefully in comparison to the law for which it would be a major amendment.

this is where I feel my own deficits of comprehension most keenly,

NWHope, here's my sincere apology that these ongoing personal matters
have distracted me from the entire Darfur initiative; please forgive, but know that yours and wesdem's and applegrove's and others' work toward attention and response for Durfur are central to my heart & intentions, & that won't change.

ASAP, I hope to bring back something useful &/or just more light on the Darfur issues ... in the midst of all the rest we're looking at right now.

25. Thanks ana, my health has interfered a lot for me. But we do what we

can and keep moving forward. That's all anyone can ask.

If I KNEW a person who was a legislative expert at DU, I'd PM them about this bill, but I don't know to whom I should write. Only that this is very, very important and we need to get the fight OFF THE FRIGGING GROUND.

I still think this bill could be used as convincing evidence for the public of the very corrupt plans of the GOP. I mean, how much more obvious could you get? These changes are NOT intended to enhance democratic representation, despite the typically Orwellian title.

thank you so much for your understanding, Hope - with me it's my own health issues, family health issues & trying to support from an intractable distance the main supporting relatives there; and just the mounting $$$-pressures & human-challenges of daily life...
