FYI ......Sensenbrenner's Financial Statement
This shit weasel opposes blind trusts

Mr. Sensenbrenner opposes a bill that would mandate blind trusts for the financial holdings of congress members so they could not introduce or favor laws that they knew would benefit their current or future personal wealth. Unreasonable? He thinks so. When Members of Congress own stocks in banking, television, telecommunications and petroleum industries, and are then allowed to introduce, block or otherwise influence congressional votes on banking, FCC, and off-shore drilling regulations, a serious conflict of interest exists that ultimately costs the taxpayers.

5. I have to admit...
....that I'm a certifiable idiot when it comes to such things. It's like a foreign language.

So could someone explain to me, preferrably in small words, how congresspersons placing their investments in blind trusts would prevent them from introducing or favoring laws that they knew would benefit their current or future personal wealth.

9. Blind Trust
A trust in which the beneficiaries do not have knowledge of the trust's specific assets, and in which a fiduciary third party has complete management discretion.

If you are knowledgeable, I will wait until you read it. But I think it makes a reporting exception for a trust which meets certain conditions. It appears to be a giant loophole!

if they are his. Your source doesn't seem to reference where they got this or how.

Update 2002: Leave it to Jim Sensenbrenner. First he voted against the Shays-Meehan bill (the McCain-Feingold equivalent that passed without him), and then he voted on a bill to weaken even further the IRS Section 527 disclosures (the new soft money loophole). Seems Mr. Sensenbrenner just can't stand cutting off his special interest funders that have corrupted our political system.

He claims that it's "a First Amendment issue" with him -- yet he voted to ban flag burning that, as despicable as it may be to some, is the only freedom of speech some members of our society can afford (given that all other forms of political speech require cash).

My representative US Rep F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr.
The "Mitch McConnell" of the House

---- refuses to support campaign finance reform -- Here are his votes
---- He also Stacks The Deck to get the right answers from his constituents
---- Has refused to sponsor a bill to eliminate soft money (he calls it "freedom of speech")
---- A review of his disclosed financial statement
---- Sensenbrenner votes to weaken House Ethics Rules
---- Sensenbrenner refused to move campaign finance reform to House floor for debate (10/25/97)
---- Chastises Janet Reno for not appointing an independent counsel (yet has not taken it
upon himself to start impeachment procedings, which Congress can do without an
independent counsel)

I agree, that Sensenbrenner and the rest of the crooks need to be indicted and made to answer some questions somewhere somehow.

Edited on Sat Jun-11-05 03:12 PM by Cyndee_Lou_Who
Undivided 25/44ths interest in single family residence at N52 W32654 Maple Lane, village of Chenequa, Waukesha County, WI, at 25/44ths of assessor's estimated market value of $303,900

His interest assessed at: 172,670.45

from: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?r103:E30AP3-51:

On edit: that was in '93, I am sure it's assessed much higher in that neighborhood. Chenequa is quite exclusive.
