Congressional Petition History? Anybody know?
I tried googling for this but it didn't turn up, so I thought I'd see whether any DUers knew this information or could point me in the right direction.

Anyway, I am trying to get an idea of how "big" a 500,000-person petition for the John Conyers letter actually is... Like, for example, what is the average size of petitions submitted to congress? How many signatures have been on petitions that have prompted congressional action in the past?

I'm trying to develop a talking point for talking up this petition. Ie, how big of a news item is 500,000 signatures? Does it break any record? Or is 500,000 considered "small" for congressional petitions, when we have a nation of millions?
