What is the proper spelling of the Dean yell?
I plan to use it at every opportunity. In fact, it should be the rallying cry for the Democratic Party.

1. I believe it to be
"yeeeargh". Add more "e"s to taste.

4. It may be spelled "yeeeargh"!
But it's pronounced, "Republicans are cheating liars!"

3. I actually had that same thought.
What a great way to show support for Dean. You know that the repuke spinmeisters would try and use it against him again. lets take that away from them by adopting it ourselves. I believe Howard would approve. :patriot:

9. Yes!
Exactly! It was a wonderful yell from the very beginning, and it's time to neutralize the pukes by adopting it as our own.

Something as important as YeeeeeeeAAAAAaaaaaahhhhhhhhhGgggggggghhhhheeeeeeaah! should not be recorded in the lexicon in error :D

7. It's spelled
"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaargh!"

I was there. I know this firsthand.

Actually, firsthand it sounded more like 2,000 staffers and volunteers cheering in a confined space, but hey, got to perpetuate the image of Howard as a WILD MAN with a ready REBEL YELL!

12. In the transcript it is "Yeeaaahhhh!"
See http://www.crocuta.net/Dean/Transcript_of_Notorious_Iowa_Speech_Jan19_2004.htm

(APPLAUSE)

DR. DEAN: Well, you guys, you have already got the picture here. I was about to say, you know, I'm sure there are some disappointed people here. You know what, you know something, you know something, if you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in third in Iowa, we would have given anything for that. And, you know something, not only are we going to New Hampshire, Tom Harkin, we're going to South Carolina, and Oklahoma, and Arizona, and North Dakota, and New Mexico. We're going to California, and Texas, and New York. And we're going to South Dakota, and Oregon, and Washington, and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House. Yeeaaahhhh!

(APPLAUSE)

Interesting that there is no "g" as many have assumed.

13. The "Dean Scream" has to be the most taken out of context ...
...thing the whore media has ever run. You would be surprised how many people don't even know that there was no negativity happening at all when he did it.

Well, come to think of it, you probably wouldn't be surprised.

It was a totally wonderful yell to me.
And if Bush had done it, they (the GOP controlled media)would have given Bush a medal for clearly emoting his feelings

And you're so right about how it would have been spun, had B*sh done it (but B*sh could never be sexy--yuck :puke:).

20. I think for once the press has overdone it - the Dean Scream is now equal
to a yell for action, a pep rally hollar, etc. It is slowly, but surely losing its negative meaning and becoming a sign of get-up-and go.

24. I would maybe spell it 'encouragement' because I took it to be
the act of someone who was personally disappointed in his third-place finish but who nevertheless dug deep and found energy and support for the many people who came to Iowa on buses, as well as Iowans, to work in his behalf -- the "scream" was a way of letting them see that they should not be discouraged, that they should remain part of the political process, and true to their ideals.

I found Dean' "scream" that night to be an act of encouragement to those people, many of them very young, and I admired him all the more for it. No wonder he is a parent. No wonder he is a husband. No wonder he is a physician.

The media snarked out immediately and cast Dean as "unstable" and "wayward" when in fact, Dean's behavior that night, IMO, was an act of very high citizenship.

And I've always believed that B*shco feared Dean more than any of the other Dem candidates.
