Dean: Fox News is GOP Propaganda Outlet
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 09:45 PM by OrlandoGator
Did this little gem slip completely under the radar? This is the biggest showstopper he's said lately, yet everyone seems to still be focusing on the other blunt truths he's spoken in the last week.

http://www.macon.com/mld/macon/news/nation/11879792.htm

I think this strategy is brilliant. Let the other side paint you as a shrill lunatic, who cares. Get the message out there and let your opponents draw attention to it.

I seriously think he's beating Rove at his own game. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

13. There is more!
"I think it's hypocritical for the Republicans to pretend to reach out to the African-American community unless they say they are going to reauthorize what gave the African-American community political power," Dean said in an interview. "I'd love to have the president say whether he's going to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act."

After barely registering a double-digit showing among black voters nationally in last fall's election, the Republican Party has intensified its efforts to recruit African-American supporters. Chairman Ken Mehlman is engineering the party's most aggressive outreach to black voters, frequently speaking in churches and to community groups in an effort to improve the party's performance among minority voters before the 2006 mid-term elections and the 2008 presidential race.

Dean said Republicans should not "pretend" to be genuinely interested in courting African-American voters until the party makes a clear statement on the act.

"The chairman of the Republican Party as you know has made a big deal about attracting African-American voters," Dean said to conference attendees. "And this is a litmus test. If you aren't going to support the extension of the Voting Rights Act, I don't know what right you have to go to a black church and show your face."

Dr.Dean IS brilliant

16. I! LOVE! DEAN!
GAWD I love that man. I KNEW I should always trust my internal radar on people. The first time I ever heard him speak was early 2003, on some little appearance on C-SPAN no one was probably watching and it literally stopped me in my tracks while walking through the living room. I stood there listening to him, forgetting to even sit down, yelling "YEAH!" the whole time. Then I thought "WHO THE HELL WAS THAT???"

My husband saw it too and looked at me saying "Who's Howard Dean?"

LOL!

20. My sister got me turned on to Dean around 2003, too.
She's a Ph.D candidate in Public Health and has been following his programs in Vermont for a while. She told me about him a couple of years ago and said that she hoped he'd run for President against Bush.

At the time, I was like, "Who the hell is Howard Dean?"

The Republicans are going to wish they never asked that question.

22. That appearance clinched it for me too
It was the DNC Winter Meeting and all the candidates spoke. Dean was the only one with "fire" though. The second time I heard it I was shocked because the first viewing reminded me of a fire and brimstone preacher. I think a big part of it was the way the crowd reacted in contrast to how MacAuliffe and others reacted. Not much has change. The roots and activists love him, the establishment Dems are clueless. LOL

I'd like to know what the doctor thinks about the idiot fit, that congressman Jim Sensenbaby had during the "Patriot Act" hearing the other day. Not very Patriotic to try and disrupt and derail what little bit of democracy we have left in this country, since the GOP pushed the Patriot Act through the process of legislation without giving anyone a chance to even read the law that they were voting on!

And talking about someone being "over the top", how could someone be anymore "over the top" than the Hon. Jem Sensenbully the brown shirted republicon? 64. all this brouhaha

reminds me of this one beautiful bit in one of the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide books.

There is a maximum security detention facility on some planet with armed guards, razor wire, and moats full of alligators, and spaceships are directed away from the planet. The inmate is some fellow who got sworn in as witness in some court proceeding to 'tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.' When he got told to step down from the witness stand he continued Telling The Truth. Ordered to stop, he refused and got up before the court and started Telling The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth. The trial was stopped, the defendant acquitted, the courthouse cleared by police, and then special commandos with ear covers were sent in and captured the man. The government converted the courthouse to a prison. The inmate has resisted all entreaties to stop Telling The Truth since and there's nothing to be done but keep him locked up, away from society, in soundproofed room....

Flash News: FOX denies bias against immoral Democrat faggot ass lovers
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 10:51 PM by tmorelli415
"We are not a propaganda shill for our wonderful and glorious president or the Republican party that our Lord and Savior has delivered unto us to slay the liberal faggot baby-killer dogs. Lies, all lies! We are not bias against repulsive Democrat party satanic America hating butt pirates and hippies. Satan's pawn should apologize to us."

Dr. Dean, please keep saying the stuff elected Democrats have been afraid to say for years - we've been waiting for a very long time to hear it - if they give you any trouble at headquarters remind them that the party has been returned to its owner and they need to come to *us* with complaints.

Most media won't touch that with a 10 foot pole. Call it "professional courtesy" I guess. It would be great if they actually started to report on the outrageous bios going on over there at FOX. I think Americans should know about it but sadly most do not seem to know.

I think its great that Dean is talking about what most of the "informed" classes already know but for the average uninformed American we need the other big media to start holding fox accountable.

41. I'm Enjoying this Too.. Dean is positively brilliant ...
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 10:28 PM by radio4progressives
He's shaking it up - no more status quo - no depressing malaise.

And he learned a valuable lesson from his experience last year and putting it to excellent advantage this year. He learned just how sleazy certain operatives are and how they'll stoop at nothing to get the media whores to turn their focus on Dean.

Operatives who are still trying to oust him as party chair - Dean knows this - and he also knows why we campaigned hard for him to be the chair in the first place. We want this party shaken up to the core - no more party hacks, no more professional elections losers, and Dean knows this too.

And so the media did Dean's bidding, unwittingly perhaps, by getting out a few very important messages to communities vital to the Democratic Party -it's core base.

They did it fast and they did it for free!

It also helped considerably with the war chest to boot.

The "Republicans are mostly White Christians" was as brilliant a strategy, as it is the sterling truth.

I'm beginning to appreciate Dean's intelligence, and deep committment to getting the job done, more than I ever have before.

And now we have today's remarks by Cheney, to boot.

Thanks Dicky boy, just keep those quips comming.

I can't wait until your ass is fried for HIGH CRIMES and TREASON. I'm against the death penalty, so I'll be content to see you working the chain gang for your remaining years.

Maybe we'll even let you serve your time at G'tmo.

62. Most people don't recognize the brilliance of Dean's moves
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 11:52 PM by dissent1977
When Dean goes on the attack he may be attacked back and he knows this. As people attack him he may lose some points on his approval rating, but he is not running for office. At the same time as this is happening there are a few people sitting around saying, you know he has a point. There really are a lot of Republicans that have never worked an honest day in their lives, just as there are a lot of Democrats who have never worked an honest day in their lives. The difference however is that the right wing constantly moans about how liberals have to "get a job", they portray us all as living off welfare, yet at the same time they are not practicing what they preach.

Then he says that the Republican Party is pretty much a white Christian party, a fact that can be proven with a simple glance at the demographics of the party. Yet Republicans are screaming about it, as if suddenly they are offended at being called a Christian. The Republicans have just fallen into Dean's trap and they haven't realized it yet. By bringing attention to Dean's comments they are going to get people to think about those comments and realize that they are the truth.

And of course these latest comments on Fox News are great, and I hope and pray that the Republicans attack him on it. Pretty much everyone who has watched FOX knows where they stand, and any attempt by the Republican politicians to try and convince people that Fox is really fair and balanced will fail miserably, but people will be talking about the right wing tilt of the news more than ever.

67. 'Zactly!
He's putting them on the defensive. They either have to PROVE what he's saying isn't true or they can go into whiney-mode.
