Perhaps we need to do this.

Here is something I call Secession-Lite.

"Urban Cities with very large populations that vote blue but are overwhelmed with Red Rural Areas should become their own States (such as Columbus and Cleveland in Ohio)"

What do you all think?

I don't think we will ever win against the Rural Reds in my state though.

Get the voting mechanisms honest.

Americans voted for Kerry in the last election -- enough he should have won Ohio, and the White House.

Even in the rural areas, populism like that championed by Paul Wellstone was winning people over. Farmers, miners, regular people -- they understand "authentic" and they understand lies, if you can just get them the information, and get their votes counting.

My best guess though is that the election was stolen in suburbs/exurbs, where Bush somehow got extra votes, and in the inner cities, where minorities got their votes suppressed or outright flipped.

4. There was an article I read....

and I really would like to find it again, that says that many of the larger blue states, like NY and Calif, basically help pay for the infrastructure and basic services of states like Alabama & Miss through federal taxes...so there is some merit to this. Maybe not the way ck4829 described it, but...

7. hmmm city-states...

really though, rather than becoming their own states, cities could use those blue majorities to pass increased minimum-wage laws, health care etc etc.
