Lieberman attacks Clark--he's the first!
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 06:35 PM by tjdee
All y'all who guessed Lieberman would be the first to snipe at Clark, you win! :toast:

According to the Des Moine Register, and talked about tonight by Tweety, Lieberman finds Clark's 'conflicting' remarks about whether he would have voted for the war "confusing and ambivalent" and "As commander in chief, as president, you've got to be able to decide what you think is right for the country's future with a clarity of judgment and have the courage to stick with it."

Clark's press secretary Kym Spell says, among other things:
""Senator Lieberman is showing once again that his voice is only raised to attack other Democrats and not focus on the real issue here. And that's the flaws of the Bush administration," Spell said."\

Does Lieberman have so little going on with his own campaign that all he does is lash out at everyone else?

5. It was the polls.
Ended the honeymoon faster than a transvestite bride.

It's going to be a difficult test for Clark, though. He's the putative frontrunner, but people are still getting to know him. If he hits back hard, it might leave a negative impression; if he doesn't hit back, he might look weak. Lieberman was smart to jump now. Of course, Lieberman himself is dead meat anyway. This should also damage the 'Clark is a stool of the DLC' line, but nothing really will put an end to that stuff.

8. Lieberman, ugh!!!!
That's one of the main reasons I was thinking of voting for McCain in 2000 if the Bush mob wouldn't have done a number on him and the sheep wouldn't have gone along with him.

I still am in disbelief someone like Al Gore and Bill Clinton let this man get so close to the President of the United States.

Where were their brains? All I can think of is the centrist policy. They thought he might bring over some conservatives. Wrong! He's a weasel in sheeps clothing. I'm going overboard I know, but he's rubbed me the wrong way since the first day I saw him. Kind of the same reaction, except less, than George W. Bush!!

something whether he is "right or wrong" and we already know it's Wrong!

It's Stupid to stick with some thing if it's wrong just so people won't say you "flip flopped".

Keeping in mind the difference between changing your mind and lying.

11. Will this make Lieberman a hero in certain circles at DU?
Stranger things have happened--like DUers eagerly citing Howard Fineman, Howard Kurtz, Matt Drudge, the Weakly Standard, and David Horowitz as sources. I never expected to see that.

13. Sooner than expected
but typical of Holy Joe. Maybe he should remember that when he started to attack Dean - Dean's support went UP.

I cannot understand why LIEberman still has ANY support beyond name recognition among Dems.

16. Somebody buy me a beer.
I figured it would be him.

Lieberman should have read the entirety of of Clark's comment. But then that would mean he would have to do his homework and why should he bother when he can just parrot what the media says?

that the worst thing he can do if he wants someone to sink is to criticize them? His criticism is pure gold for a candidate.

20. three copies of the same email arrived today
----snip----

We cannot support the pro-gun Clark or the pro-gun Dean.
"Should Dean Fear His Early Success? July 2 ˜ The son of a patrician Republican, (Howard Dean)comes from a long line of investment bankers. At Yale,
he was deep into beer."
-----and----------

We can support Joe Lieberman, Jon Edwards, Dick Gephardt, and possibly John Kerry, should he decide to wholeheartedly support the liberation of Iraq.

------------------

The screed was long with links to many liberal groups at the bottom. Plenty of Dean and Clark bashing with some new charges included. And no...Although they are fuckin funny, I'm not going to post them here because then I'd have to see them posted for the next month. Not enough hours in the day.

It is just beginning.
