4. I thought it was because
Propositions are the way around a hostile legistlature. Arnold can't get what he wants from the California State Senate and Assembly (Democratic control), so he's going for a special election.

I barely follow state politics, but it does seem to me that his propositions are different from the one's he was proposing a few months ago. I also think this Legislation by Proposition is something unique to California, but not really sure about that. Anybody know?

Basically, he hates unions, teachers, public pensions, nurses/patients. Those are his current themes.

7. He's after folks like me...
a school employee represented by a union which barely can do the basics for us. He wants to take away the last incentives for people to help educate the young because contrary to possible popular belief, it's a dirty job! Kids are not easy to deal with these days! So, this makes us 'special interstes' whereas the car dealers that have flooded the Booben grabber's treasure coffers are NOT special interests! uh huh....

3. Special Elections Happen Occasionally In Cali
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 11:42 PM by rwenos
They're part of the same system as the initiative and referendum. An outgrowth of the Progressive Movement. Early in 20th Century, California Legislature was in the bag of the "Octopus," the Southern Pacific Railroad. The idea was the people could overrule the Legislature if they got too far out of hand.

It IS a creature of the State Constitution, was added in like 1910.

Governor can call it. Schwarzenegger has. Polls say it's a political mistake. $80 million worth.

It's a shameless disgrace anyway you look at it.

A waste of California money.... Solely to break Unions, (which of course the republicans despise) ala Reagan. :puke:

Yes, Arnold's bullshit initiatives are popular ONLY among Rove, Fox watchers, the usual scared dumb republican robots and the other ultra right-wing fascist...

They are going to come at us, BE AWARE, in CA, with more republican money, and electronic voting machines distotions than you can ever imagine.

8. yeah, arnie, you dumbfuck...
...in case you haven't realized it yet, the more the voters of CA see of you, the less they like you. Repeat after me: "my political career is DEAD because all I am is a tool of kkkrove, kenny boy lay, and their ilk"

Hahaha, kkk thought all he had to do was get the austrian meat puppet in the statehouse and the 'pukes could run wild here. Too bad; the voters of CA are waking up because they realize that ahnuld is just another radical 'puke econ wacko, complete with Heritage foundation/Grover Norquist mindset.

Having said that, watch for 'puke election fraud. :scared:

9. Fewer rules for campaign spending
It's a way for the Govenator to ram rod through an agenda that he can't make happen with the current legislation. The special election gives him two things in his favor. First the campaign spending rules don't apply so he can fill our TV with non stop misleading commercials. Second, history has proven that voter turnout is always lowest when we aren't voting for the president, or even senators in this case. People are always more negatively driven which means they will make an effort to go to the polls to make a change. Most everyone else won't bother even paying attention. This puts the odds clearly in Arnold's favor.

I confronted signature gathers on four separate occasions in my neighborhood. All I had to do was walk up to the table and ask the person signing if they knew they were signing for a special election that would cost the tax payers untold millions of dollars. People just aren't informed. When they know the truth they don't sign. One time I told the guy collecting the signatures that I only asked for him to tell the truth about the special election. He got really pissed at me and said he wasn't obligated to tell the truth.

I'm pissed. I heard that Arnold was going to Texas and Florida to fundraise for this special election. The people of California that are paying attention don't want it. Everyone else just doesn't understand what it's all about.
