Bush uses executive order to push through faith based initiatitves
Bush has had little success in pushing his faith-based agenda through Congress, so he has used executive orders to implement much of it. Critics question whether the programs amount to a government endorsement of religion, a notion the administration has rejected.

1. He IS a freaking dictator
Can't get it done through congress, so he does it by exective order. I think Congress can overturn it (but I don't know if they will). Hopefully it will go to court.

2. No doubt the ACLU will be all over it.
I think that is what he wants...FAT Tony et al to sanction it after he bankrupts the ACLU with a million issues.

3. Well, starting January '05
we'll have a new prez, one that was actually elected, take office and undo those exec orders. Bush is a POS, ramming through his unpopular crap to pay off his constituents.

5. AWOL and other presidents make me mad when congress allows them
to issue executive orders that are prohibited by the Constitution, i.e. "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives."

AWOL has already tipped his hand by revealing that he hopes to gain support among African American ministers by giving them federal grants aka bribes. I hope the ministers follow Christ's teaching and beware of false prophets bearing handouts from mammon.

8. Boy, is this EVIL or What???
To skirt the Law is one thing, to shove it down our throats is another.

Will there be an Islamic Soup Kitchen?? A Jewish one? etc etc?

This is a bad thing/

7. Interesting excerpt:
"Additionally, faith-based groups are eligible to compete for $8 billion in housing grants, Martinez said. In a statement, the White House said such funds could not be used to buy or fix a place of worship."

You can't fix a place of whorship (oops, I meant worship), but what about property owned by the church? What about the home where the deacon lives? What about private homes that have bible studies on a weekly basis?

If you think the voucher system was an easy vehicle for corruption, this faith-based give-away is going to be a nightmare.
