UFW boycott of gallo is back on again! please sign on!
Posted by nofurylike in Activism & Events:

from the United Farm Workers email and site:

JOIN THE NEW GALLO BOYCOTT: SIGN THE PETITION TODAY!
http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/nogallo/step1.tcl

The United Farm Workers invites people of good will to join our second boycott of Gallo wine in 32 years. Hundreds of farm workers and supporters are kicking off the new international boycott of Gallo wine June 14 on the steps of San Francisco City Hall.

Together we will convince America's wealthiest wine making family to do the responsible thing by stopping the exploitation of their workers.

The Gallos deny the majority of their farm workers benefits and grievance rights. The Gallos abuse, cheat and deny these workers benefits, job protections and humane living conditions in the heart of California's fabled wine country.

The Gallos say they have no responsibility for the miserable conditions endured by their vineyard employees because they are "temporary workers"

Through this boycott, people of goodwill can have a say. "No Gallo!"

Please sign the petition informing the Gallos of your decision to join the boycott. And pass it on to your friends.

For more information, visit: http://www.gallounfair.com / or http://www.ufw.org

*By signing the "No Gallo" petition you will send Gallo of Sonoma an email informing them of your support.

***
please sign on! repeated appeals to gallo are not getting through to them. farm workers are being poisoned, among other injustices they suffer to make the gallos rich and famous.

thank you!!
(sorry, i will not be able to reply to reply comments today)

12. that's great. it's a new generation of gallos, though, and they
just don't realize how strong that boycott was.

i hope all will re-sign on so the new gallo barons really get it.

peace!

3. Had a teacher in high school who went covert with another guy inside
Gallo workers' camps. His tales afterwords were horrible. There were private security thugs whose job it was to assure no 'outsiders got in to talk to the workers or document the conditions. The workers hide my teacher and the other guy in tanks when the security boys came through on the hunch somebody was there. My teacher and his pal had to hide in the latrine holding tank. To do otherwise would probably have meant their demise along with some of the workers.

These people are not nice. Support the boycott.

God, has it been over 32 years since we had all those bad times with grape growers and started hitting them in the pocketbook? Jeeze, I am getting old. So sad that another generation is back fighting the same damned war.
