Poll question: Do you follow links in threads?

I ask this question because I posted this earlier and it got no hits: Good in depth reporting on Gitmo in today's Newsday (Pg 1 + 4 more pgs)

There are a 4 pages of good stories in Newsday today regarding the Pentagon's attempts to obstruct due process. Excerpting them would be a challenge as they are long.

1. Sometimes it takes a few good kicks to get people to notice a thread.

Sometimes it takes a few kicks to realize no amount of kicking will get other people interested in a thread. True story! :evilfrown:

I was trying to give my other thread a creative kick with this poll. Still no hits. :(

Some I won't. I will not click on any drudge links and a few others that are a complete waste of my time.

4. #2 and #3 are not mutually exclusive...

and I'd actually like to vote for both.

If there's no exceprt and I have no idea of what a link is about, I generally ignore it. But if the story is interesting to me, I'll follow the link to find out more. Expecially if the excerpts just give me a hint and don't give away the whole story.

5. I usually follow the link, unless it's something I've seen

other articles on, or the reliability of the link seems suspect.

If the link has absolutely no reliability, in my pre-judgment, sometimes I follow it for humor value.

Sometimes it's clear that people don't even read the paragraphs that were posted, so maybe a new poll should be "Do you actually read the excerpts before responding?"

I don't think I saw your thread. I don't go deep: if it's not on page 1 of whatever forum I'm looking at, I don't see it. (I check a few times a day, so sometimes kicked pages resurface, but if it sinks page 2 or beyond and stays there, it's below my radar.)
