Congressman says Gitmo inmates better there than at home.
I saw on the news a couple of nites ago a congressman (Hunter from CA) showing the meals the prisoners get and then stating that "the prisoners have it better at gitmo than they would at home"

:wow: :wtf:

My wife and I were stunned. Does anyone have a link to this? Thought it was on abc, but couldn't find anything there.

Thanks!

2. A Republican "life"= TV, clean sheets, good food
They say pretty much the same thing about those "lifers" living the highlife in jail.

4. Maybe the congressperson...
secretly likes to be tortured, you know, in private, maybe by someone of the same sex?

Maybe, that is their idea of a perfect life?

5. I personally would give up good food if they would...
stop friggin' torturing me!

Isn't it funny how some legislators can grip onto one issue and just start flapping their gums as if they WEREN'T ignorant of the situation as a whole.

pathetic

6. Wasn't that the excuse given by slave owners
in the South before the Civil War? That "but the nigras are much better off being enslaved... we feed 'em good" TOTAL RUBBISH.

7. This one is from a FoxNews outlet, dated Monday
I guess that's appropriate under the circumstances.

Please click here.

This is the regime's line right now. Rumsfeld was saying the same thing to the BBC earlier in the week:

"No one wishes to have a facility like that, no one wishes to have to detain people," (Rumsfeld) told Sir David Frost in a special interview for BBC Newsnight's Tuesday edition.

However, conditions there were humane, he said, and any guards who had "misbehaved" had been punished.

"The people in Gitmo... 99% have the best food probably, the best medical treatment, they've ever received in their lives," the defence secretary added.

9. don't forget the pita bread, vegetables and 2 peices of fruit
the guy looked like a moran holding up the plates. So we feed them, great....doesn't mean we don't abuse or torture them after they've eaten. :banghead:

14. Actually, I read that one of the abuses at Abu Ghraib, and probably Gitmo
was forcing the captives to retrieve their food from the toilet, thus creatively combining the two activities.

13. long before then
John C. Calhoun, for instance, justified slavery in the 1830s on the grounds that blacks were better off as slaves than as free people in Africa.

12. I always want to tell people to go do it yourself
when they make statements like that - generally the kind that thinks that people have a luxurious life on foodstamps, welfare, and minimum wage . . .
