WASHINGTON - As funny as this may sound, President Bush misses John Kerry. In the 2004 campaign, Bush sought to make the election a referendum on the Democratic senator's character and leadership skills rather than his own record as president. Now that he has nobody to run against, every day is a referendum on Bush. And it's taking a toll.

Bush's approval ratings are among the lowest of his presidency. Voters are growing increasingly uneasy over the war in Iraq and the economy. His signature domestic issue, Social Security reform, was received coolly by Congress and the public. Some Republicans are raising the prospect that Bush could cost them control of Congress

(If Hophead Limbaaah is advocating a ceasefire in Iraq, you know he's only mouthing their plans. The 90-day ceasefire will be their attempt to turn the corner. It won't work, just another way to fudge the numbers. Of course they'll start bragging about how there haven't been any casualties once they do this--and the sheeple will eat it up.)

Truman the buck stopped at his desk. In Bush the buck stops at a few liberal senators, a few insurgents, a few bad apple soldiers, faulty intelligence... When has Bush ever made a decision. This guy couldn't even decide to stay or leave a classroom on his own in the most important 6 minutes of his presidency. Bush hasn't after 6 months of touring come up with an actual SS bill. I mean it's been 6 months of talk can jounior finally tell us WHAT THE %$#% his plan is. Nope. There is nothing farseeing about ignoring the environment, ignoring international law, ignoring HIV, taking money out sciences, social programs and running up huge social debt to give tax cuts to a few. Bush is nothing like Truman. Bush went to war so his name would look good in the history books he pretends not to care about. That's not a tough decision that's a decision of ego.
