Today the Stop Global Warming Virtual March on Washington arrives in my home state of Arizona, where global warming will make normal, seasonal droughts longer and more severe. Ranches in my state recently endured six long, dry years that devastated grazing lands. Many were forced to abandon land they'd worked for generations, and others saw long-profitable and proud businesses pushed to the brink of bankruptcy. This spring, the rains returned, but the climate change that made this drought so severe threatens us still. I didn't realize McCain was an environmentalist, there is a point in his favor for 2008.

This is what he is advocating in addition to attacking Iran.

If we absolutely need a Republican as president, I go with Hagel. At least, he understands we have to live with other countries, but I would clearly prefer to have a Democrat.

Even the most right-wing Democrat will be better.

This is not new. He is one of the few Dems to vote against the drilling in ANWR, for example.

One day he's on the wrong side, the next the good side.

14. He's trying to appeal to both sides I think

for 2008. That way when he does run and if he's the nominee some moderate democrats and independents could vote for him. My mom seems to like him okay. I've never asked if she'd vote for him or Hillary though. :shrug: I think what he does after this (if he keeps talking) will show if he's serious or not. He's no Robert Kennedy Junior of course where the enviornment is concerned. Don't most rightwingers not believe in global warming though? They're already pissed at him for the compromise with the democrats on the filibuster. And no canidate will win the White House on the republican side without George Bush and Dick Cheney supporting and endorsing them.
