Alert the media about the DSM Activities - media contacts here!
Attend, Watch, Demand Coverage of the Downing Street Minutes Hearings and Rally

(Please call, fax or - less effectively - email the media. Contact info at end)

Hearings time: Thursday June 16, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m

Overflow: DNC Offices, Wasserman Room, 430 S. Capitol St. SE

Rep. John Conyers Democrat of Michigan and Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, will chair hearings concerning the Downing Street (UK) Minutes. Media will gain priority access to the small hearing room. Since it has limited capacity, the media and public can watch at the DNC offices.

Among those scheduled to testify at the hearings: Joe Wilson, Former (Bush I Administration) Ambassador to Iraq and Expert on WMDs; Ray McGovern, 27-year CIA analyst who prepared Presidential briefings for Ronald Reagan; Cindy Sheehan, mother of an American soldier killed in Iraq; John Bonifaz, renowned constitutional lawyer and co-founder of AfterDowningStreet.org.

Rally time: Thursday June 16, 5:00 p.m.
Place: Lafayette Park, across from the White House

Rally Details: AfterDowningstreet.org, a coalition of veterans groups, political and social activists, and concerned citizens will organize a rally to demand answers regarding the Downing Street Minutes. Those expected to address the rally include: Congressman John Conyers; Congresswoman Barbara Lee; Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey; and Congressman Maurice Hinchey - each provided their schedules permit participation.

Confirmed speakers include: Cindy Sheehan, Co-Founder of Gold Star Families for Peace; John Bonifaz, Co-Founder of AfterDowningStreet.org; Medea Benjamin, Co-Founder of Global Exchange; Stephen Cleghorn, Military Families Speak Out; Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Progressive Democrats of America Board Member; Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst; Reg Keys, Military Families Against the War, challenger to Tony Blair in last UK election; William Rivers Pitt, Author and Progressive Democrats of America Reporter; Leslie Cagan, National Coordinator of United for Peace and Justice; Kevin Zeese, Director of Democracy Rising.

C-SPAN is announcing coverage of the hearings, on C-SPAN 3 live starting 2:30 and shown again Friday afternoon on C-SPAN 2. It'd be better if they ran it on C-SPAN 1 of course, as fewer cable systems carry 2 and 3. Suggest C-SPAN air or rebroadcast these events on C-SPAN 1
