Some simple republican truths for the "War on terror"
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:47 PM by JohnnyRingo
The US would not participate in torture, and the Vice President is "offended" that anyone would imply that we abuse prisoners.
but
Guantaunamo Bay Cuba was chosen because it isn't on American soil, and doesn't have to apply itself to US laws of imprisonment and civil rights.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Gitmo cost taxpayers $100,000,000 to build, and we can't walk away from that large of an investment.
but
We've seen pictures, they have to end the Home Depot contract for plywood and razor wire.
----------------------------------------------------------------

The Gauntonamo Bay prison is a good deal at only $250,000 per day, and we can't find anyplace better to hold political prisoners.
but
Feeding them caviar and roast duck at Leavenworth would yield a significant savings.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone in Iraq hated Saddam, and was glad we intervened to depose him, because they were enslaved and powerless against him.
but
Everyone in Iraq had at least one automatic weapon, and as we see now, they are not afraid to use them against their leaders.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The insurgents are all from foreign countries, coming across the border to fight democracy and freedom in Iraq.
but
The Iraqis who work with us have to wear hoods to conceal their identity from their neighbors and friends. Foreigners wouldn't know who their parents are.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Iraq war was not about the oil
but
2,000,000 barrels a day are evaporating from that country without accountability.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing will change until we "win the war on terror".
but
We're still fighting the "war on drugs", "war on poverty", "war on pornography" and the "war on crime".
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure there are many more "truths" that don't hold up to simple logic

4. War On Terror EQUALS Cold War Part II.
Trillions of dollars to be made by the Military Industrial Complex ripping off average Americans for the next fifty years. Oil Tycoons & Robber Barons swarm in for their cut of the spoils.

Communist now means 'Terrist' and you must fear the Boogy Man!

6. How true.... here's a link to an editorial from my local paper
In which our local "community columnist"(R-Moran) laments the cold war as "the good old days".

Sadly, I think he's a typical republican voter
